Role Summary

Strategic Legal Leadership

  • Global lead for shaping and delivering regional strategy in alignment with the Institute’s global legal framework.
  • Anticipate and assess legal and regulatory developments across jurisdictions, ensuring the Institute remains compliant and well-positioned to operate effectively.

Legal Risk, Compliance and Governance

  • Oversee the formation, structuring, and operationalisation of international offices, subsidiaries, and other legal entities across.
  • Ensure global corporate governance and statutory compliance and best practice.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across programmes, partnerships, and operational activities.

  • Oversee regional compliance frameworks, including implementation and monitoring of Institute-wide policies.

Commercial Oversight

  • Oversee complex commercial, donor, government and procurement arrangements and partnerships.
  • Oversee the Institute’s counterparty due diligence processes, ensuring appropriate risk assessment and escalation of material concerns.

  • Provide senior oversight on high-risk or politically sensitive engagements.

Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and manage a globally distributed team of legal professionals, fostering high performance, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Act as a senior representative of the Legal function in global, regional and cross-functional forums.

Stakeholder & External Counsel Management

  • Build strong internal relationships across all teams and ensure legal considerations are integrated early into decision-making.

Process Improvement & Capability Building

  • Drive continuous improvement in legal processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and risk management.
