Job Description

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a personable corporate fundraiser and leader, who will develop and drive efforts with new global corporate partners in support of our mission to help refugees survive, recover and gain control of their future. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since its inception in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. This senior role is part of the International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) team, which leads on the IRC's engagement with corporations, foundations, international philanthropists, and new global funding streams. To date, IPP has had enormous success in key global sectors such as financial services, healthcare, consumer goods, technology et al, but we seek to expand our footprint in a wider range of corporate partners and partnerships.

The ideal candidate is a senior global relationship and/or sales manager, with a track record of personally prospecting, cultivating, and closing 6 and 7-figure corporate partnerships in support of humanitarian and development work. They will be proficient and have a technical specialization in one or more of the largest corporate philanthropy sectors (technology, healthcare, finance, consumer goods, gaming, etc.) and will have experience establishing comprehensive, 360-degree corporate partnerships (ideally with proven knowledge and success of modalities such as workplace giving, sponsorship, cause-related marketing and operational partnerships.) They will also demonstrate passion for the IRC's mission, nuanced understanding of private sector fundraising, and dedication to the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion values.

Major Responsibilities: -----------------------

- Is responsible for the delivery of the new business vision and targets for IPP corporates, across a set of sectors, in close collaboration with the other members of the New Business team, as well as Account Management leadership. - Is responsible to develop, roll-out and socialize effective and joint ways of working, alongside the other Director, Global New Business Development and the Director, Global Account Management in IPP corporates. - Leads their team in the successful establishment and implementation of a long-term new business development strategy that finds opportunities in new sectors, modalities, and companies. - Encourages, guides and mentors their team to achieve their targets by bringing forward outstanding perspective, sectoral knowledge, fundraising trends and other insights. - Together with the Prospect Research and Prospect Management teams in the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services Division (GPPS) and the Analytics Team in External Relations, conducts regular prospect analysis for new corporate opportunities, and shares findings with Account Management and New Business teams to inform strategy and implementation. - Proactively contacts corporate prospects and establishes initial relationships on behalf of the IRC. - Reactively fields incoming requests from corporate prospects on behalf of the IRC and categorizes them across sectors, return on investment and capacity. - Sets metrics for successful new business engagement (i.e. number of meetings per month, number of new outreaches, etc.) and ensures these metrics are met for themselves and for staff under their leadership. - Leads and supports the corporate team’s efforts by personally cultivating and soliciting high-level, high-impact partnerships, with the aim to convert these to long-term relationships with the IRC under the Account Management team, whenever possible. - Remains up to date with the latest trends on global partnership management across industries and sectors, with a particular focus on one or more of the following areas: technology, healthcare, finance, consumer goods, gaming, or another sector that engages in major corporate philanthropy. - Provides dynamic and effective thought leadership towards increased financial and non-financial engagement with business, inclusive of operational partnerships, cause-related marketing, gifts-in-kind, employee engagement, advocacy, and thought leadership. - Act as an inspiring leader within IPP- teaming up with fellow IPP Directors, in maintaining, encouraging and developing an outstanding global fundraising team to support the IRC’s income aspirations. - Support the team’s and organization’s DEI efforts through development of multi-faceted partnerships that benefit clients with varying backgrounds. - Collaborate with the GPPS team on the conceptualization, development and implementation of standards, tools and procedures towards an outstanding approach to international private sector engagement and fundraising. - Collaborate across other External Relations teams, on initiatives that span departments, to include but not be limited to our joint dedication to a diverse, positive and inclusive work environment.

Essential Qualifications: -------------------------

- Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Communications, International Relations, Finance or another field relevant to the IRC. - Extensive experience (8 years+) in the corporate fundraising and partnership space; particularly in personally prospecting, cultivating and closing large partnerships. Sectoral insight/expertise would be a strong asset. Previous experience across a wide range of sectors and modalities (to include cause-related marketing) would be strongly preferred. - Management experience with small teams. Global experience is highly desirable. - Consistent record of negotiating and securing six-seven figure corporate partnerships. - Understanding of how to reconcile the needs of an organization with those of the private sector partner. - Demonstration of creativity and problem solving in working with corporate partners. - Ability to explain sophisticated issues to donors and prospects and present the organization in an engaging and concise manner. - Good understanding of the challenges and issues faced by field offices. - Excellent digital literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.). - Excellent communication skills with good interpersonal skills. - Knowledge and curiosity about humanitarian/international development work.
