You have:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in international development or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills.
- Strong understanding of fragile and conflict-affected situations (FCAS) and civil society organizations (CSOs).
- Experience in management and capacity building in diverse teams.
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This is a fixed term appointment or assignment for senior staff, for a period of 3 years. This opening is open to internal and external applicants.
If you are selected as an external candidate, the appointment may be extended for a period of up to 3 years per extension, or not renewed. In case of extension, staff may continue in the position for another term of up to 3 years.
At the end of the initial period, ADB, as its discretion may: (a) renew a fixed term appointment or assignment, (b) not renew a fixed term appointment
Fixed-term appointments or assignments for senior staff are subject to terms and conditions determined by ADB as indicated in all relevant policies
Overview

The position manages the Fragility and Engagement Division (CCFE) within the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department. The Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department provides leadership, innovation, and knowledge sharing for ADB’s thematic work. CCFE is made up to two units: (i) The Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations (FCAS) and small island developing states (SIDS) which seeks to help improve the performance of ADB’s operations in FCAS-classified developing member countries and SIDS, and (ii) The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and Civil Society (CSO) Center (NGOC) which seeks to increase engagement and collaboration between ADB and NGO/CSOs in the operations, both at the institutional policy engagement and the programs and projects engagement, through embedding meaningful CSOs participation in all our work.

Job Purpose
The Director, Fragility and Engagement will (i) manage the FCAS and SIDS team and serve as ADB’s focal point for fragile and conflict-affected situations (FCAS), lead the design and application of a differentiated approach and capacity building in ADB operations in FCAS countries, and develop strategic approaches, knowledge products and services to help ADB respond better to the needs in FCAS countries, and (ii) provide strategic direction for NGOC, advise head, on day to day operations of NGOC, champion CSOs participation and engagement in ADB’s operations. This position will report to the Director General of CCSD and will supervise International Staff, National Staff and Administrative Staff.

The selected candidate, if new to ADB, is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
