UNESCO is the only United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education. It has been entrusted to lead the Global Education 2030 Agenda through Sustainable Development Goal 4. UNESCO coordinates the international community to achieve the SDG 4 through partnerships, policy guidance, capacity development, monitoring and advocacy with the Education 2030 Framework for Action as roadmap. In 2022, the Transforming Education Summit (TES) was convened during the 77th of the United Nations General Assembly and was the first big milestone of the UN Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda. UNESCO served as the Summit Secretariat driving the preparatory process, putting in place an extensive engagement process with Member States between February and September 2022. As host of the dedicated SDG 4 Inter-Agency Secretariat and as convener and co-Chair of the Steering Committee, UNESCO will play an instrumental role in supporting the main axes of the Summit’s follow up. As the lead agency for Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education and within the context of its strategic transformation, UNESCO is currently seeking a pro-active, visionary Director for the Division for Education 2030. The right candidate will be a seasoned leader, able to foster trust through an inclusive approach and inspire others. S/he will oversee the effective performance of UNESCO’s international lead coordination role for the SDG Agenda 2030. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Division’s programme, including medium-term strategies, operational work plans and associated budgets. Further, s/he will ensure technical backstopping to UNESCO Field Offices in implementing the Division’s programme and activities. Specifically, the incumbent shall: Long Description ---------------- - Provide intellectual, strategic and operational leadership for the Division in the pursuit of its main goals.
