Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Director is assigned to the Economic Analysis and Operational Support Division (EREA) in the Economic Research and Development Impact Department (ERDI). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

You will report to the Chief Economist and Director General, ERDI and will oversee Technical International Staff and Technical Local Staff.

Your Role

As Director, you will lead EREA in carrying out all activities in contributing to enhancing the relevance, responsiveness, and quality of ADB operations. In close collaboration with two other divisions in ERDI, you will lead the division in providing the following areas of services: (i) conduct of high-quality research on development issues in Asia and the Pacific, diagnostics of critical development constraints at the regional, country, and sector levels, and analytical work on project economic analysis and impact evaluation methodologies; (ii) work with country and project teams to strengthen the development impact of ADB operations through improved economic analysis that underpins ADB's country partnership strategies and the design of projects and programs; and (iii) conduct staff learning programs to ensure the consistent application of economic principles and methods in operations.

Additional Information

This is a fixed-term appointment for a managerial position, initially for a period of three (3) years, in accordance with para. 3.1(a) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (Recruitment and Appointment). After the initial fixed-term period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for up to an additional 3 years or allow it to expire. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB, based on factors including, but not limited to, ADB’s medium- to long-term plans for the organizational unit, the relevance of the staff’s skills to those plans, and the staff’s managerial and behavioral competencies. There is no limit on the number of renewals up to the Normal Retirement Date. However, this appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment.
