ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). Job holders report to the Division/Regional/Country Director or the designate, and work under the functional supervision of the Director, Information Technology (IT).

Job holders at this level perform activities and analytical work of limited complexity supporting several business areas and maintaining contacts with business counterparts to bring business requests into IT. They use their limited technical knowledge and experience to assist in gathering and analysing business needs,and supporting solution delivery. Job holders are likely to be working under the supervision of a more experienced staff member, receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed.

JOB PURPOSE

Partner with the business to understand their requests and operating environment in order to contribute to the transformation of business requirements into solutions exploiting IT capabilities and focusing on business satisfaction.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced university degree in Computer Science, engineering or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/course.

Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).

Experience: One year post graduate relevant professional experience with master’s degree, or three years post graduate relevant professional experience with a first University Degree

National Professional: Fluency (level C) in English and Portuguese languages

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Enable the business to make data-driven decisions to inform the strategic direction, analyse the success of initiatives and impact to beneficiaries whilst ensuring data security and privacy
  • Engage with the business to understand their needs and translate into clear requirements that can be met through innovative digital solutions;
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight for digital solutions (including data and monitoring solutions) within the operation;
  • Collaborate with Programme and other key stakeholders on the development and maintenance of a CO strategy and roadmap for relevant SCOPE implementation;
  • In collaboration with Regional Social Safety Net Officer/relevant colleagues provide advice related to social protection and safety net infrastructure for governments as it relates to capacity strengthening;
  • Support CO engagement with other UN agencies and with NGOs interested in benefitting from WFP’s digital assistance services through assessments, intervention design, project support and service delivery coordination;
  • Undertake analysis for the business case for commercial service providers in order to expand the provision of services to WFP recipients across the country, in collaboration with key team members.
  • Work with more senior team members to communicate business requirements to business counterparts, for a shared understanding of the requirements and effective implementation of strategies/plans.
  • Maintain contacts with business counterparts to bring their requests into IT and keep them informed of actions.
  • Review how IT service levels align with SLAs for solutions or services focused on the business and alert service managers of discrepancies. Assist to survey business satisfaction with IT solutions and services.
  • Support project managers in managing estimates, business cases, planning, risk identification, issue management for the effective delivery of IT solutions.
