BACKGROUND

The Senior Digital Manager will work in the MSDD unit to support digital transformation projects for the Management Services Division. The Management Services Division includes workstreams focusing on Asset, Facilities, Fleet and Travel Management, as well as Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, and Environmental Sustainability, among other services critical to enabling WFP colleagues to live and work throughout WFP's global operations.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The work implies frequent interaction with the following: internal business units, the UN Booking Hub digital team, information technology colleagues, external suppliers of digital services, and UN system partners. The incumbent will be responsible for the following specific tasks:

  1. Coordinate and provide business input for the development and roll-out of MSD digital transformation projects including:

  2. providing the Product Canvas outlining the vision of the digital project;

  3. maintain the Product Roadmap outlining the evolution of the product;
  4. prepare the Product Roadmap for endorsement by the TEC Demand Assessment Board (DAB);
  5. gather and validate requirements following a Human-Centred Design (HCD) approach;
  6. ensure that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood
  7. communicate requirements to the Product Team

  8. Manage accurate and up-to-date master development plan with forecasted and actual costs to feed the budget planning, request and optimized use;

  9. Manage WFP IT technical supervision and its internal approval governance such as the demand board and the architectural board;
  10. Identify and manage technical resources and procedures and outsourced suppliers also from the procurement point of view;
  11. Manage the product budget (including support & maintenance costs), and prepare cost estimates based on the IT Solution Architect’s high-level effort estimates;
  12. Keep track of the consumption of purchased time-and-materials quotas;
  13. Provide guidance to vendors concerning the submission of consumer reports and invoices;
  14. Approve consumption reports for the insertion of the corresponding Service Entry Sheets.
  15. Coordinate digital transformation first-line technical support including:
    1. Ensure platform continuity of service by interfacing TEC for needed support and platform fault
    2. Minimize reputational and operational risks by promoting mitigating actions with innovative tools and processes to avoid any platform defaults
  16. Build and strengthen engagement with other stakeholders as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Digital Marketing courses and qualifications are considered an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-years post-graduate experience with product/project management.
  • Proven track record of planning, leading and executing related projects.
  • Experience in gathering business and user requirements.
  • Ability to manage budget, resources, and risks.

Knowledge &Skills:

  • Has managed large digital transformation projects requiring innovative recommendations and approaches.
  • Technology Awareness: has in-depth knowledge and proficiency with digital product management (vision and product strategy), product backlog management (analyse, create, refine, and prioritize product backlog items, Agile Scrum and mainstream software design & development methodologies;
  • Client orientation: has strong customer empathy and a passion for building great user experiences across web and mobile devices;
  • Professionalism: Has experience with multi-vendor projects, delivery coordination and management and digital project budgeting.
  • Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve goals.
  • Planning & Organizing: Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of responsibilities and honours commitments; delivers outputs for which one has responsibility within the prescribed time.

Languages:

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing–in fluent English, with the ability to present technical concepts in concise business language to multiple audiences.
