In an increasingly digital world, online volunteers play a significant role in tackling today’s sustainable development challenges where anyone, from anywhere, with any device can contribute their skills and expertise to accelerate the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) wants to engage Online Volunteers to support the work of communications in boosting its social media presence. The assignment will play a role in showcasing the work of the UN Volunteers, promoting volunteerism, support talent outreach in mobilizing highly skilled, qualified, and motivated UN volunteers to support the United Nations system towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

We are looking for 50 Online Volunteers to become our Ambassadors, supporting our communications team to boost our social media presence through disseminating digital content. In close collaboration with the UNV Communications Team, the Online Volunteers will:

  • Disseminate volunteering opportunities, testimonies of UN Volunteers, and other digital content posted across all Regional Office platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.),
  • Monitor the Regional Office Social Media platforms and provide monthly analytics report (impressions, engagements, likes, retweets, reposts, etc.),
  • Amplify online campaigns around International UN Days and other occasions.

Expected Output Selected Online Volunteers are expected to deliver the following outputs during their assignment: - Each online volunteer will have to follow, like, share/repost/retweet digital content shared across UNV Regional Office social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), - Provide the monthly analytics report (impressions, engagements, likes, retweets, reposts, etc.).

The selected Online Volunteers will be grouped into two groups and nominate two persons to assist in overall coordination of the assignment. The two appointed Online Volunteers with Coordination Support role will be further tasked to support in reviewing the Regional Office Trello board and upload new content.

Content for the Outreach The Online Volunteers will disseminate original content posted on UNV platforms by liking, retweeting, reposting, or sharing on their platforms, groups, and professional networks. Further guidance on the above tasks and workflow will be provided at the beginning of and during the assignment through call via Zoom/Microsoft Teams, as needed.

  • Candidates should be acquainted with social media trends, and analytics, must be active on social media, and have at least 500 followers/likes on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Interested candidates should be willing to open their social media account to public for this assignment.
  • The 2 Online Volunteers appointed for Coordination Support will also assist in reviewing the Regional Office Trello board and upload new content should have experience in Social Media Content Management system such as Trello board, well versed with creating user-friendly, organized with easy-to-understand lists and clean visuals.
  • When completing the “motivation” section in the application form, Candidates are also required to include information on the numbers of followers and likes of their respective social media accounts.
