The Country Office also supports programmes that use food assistance to empower women, transform areas affected by climate change and keep children in school. It aims to contribute to Ethiopia’s five-year development agenda, the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), through which the Government combats food insecurity.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This job is based in Addis Ababa WFP Country Office. Job holders operate with minimal supervision, and are heavily involved in day–to-day activities, analytical work and provide advice on less complex issues.

JOB PURPOSE

To support the Communication Strategy, WFP Ethiopia seeks the support of a specialist to support building digital marketing and communications materials to communicate and promote its mission in the country among targeted audiences.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications, the Digital Media Specialist will perform the following tasks:

1) Define the appropriate communication and marketing strategy to support the application promotion, including:

  • Critical communication channels
  • Key messages
  • Materials required
  • Timeline of communication

2) Coordinate the production of high-quality communication materials to support the communication strategy. When appropriate, directly produce the materials

3) Drive and coordinate online (including social media) and other forms of communication on the application

4) Ensure successful production & distribution of required materials

5) Support the communications unit with marketing advice and implementation of WFP communication goals beyond the application

6) Any other task as required

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A University degree in Communication, Marketing, Sales, or other relevant fields.

Experience: At least three or more years of progressively responsible experience in communications and marketing or in relevant field.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Amharic. Knowledge of other local languages is an added advantage.
