Result of Service The incumbent will develop the branding strategy of the C&V Plan of the EU Action Programme, including the visual identity materials, following UNEP directions and in coordination with the EU, GIZ, AFD and other partners, and with due consideration to the EU branding guidelines and guidance on communication for external actions. He/she will be responsible for the following activities:

1. Conduct a desk study and provide a report with findings and recommendations for branding concepts: Study the background of the Action Programme, including the recommendations and visual requirements of the donor and partners, as well as existing related visual identities; define its target audience and understand its objectives to inform the production phase of at least 3 creative concepts for the brand identity of the Action Programme.

2. Develop 3 creative branding concepts, including logo, statement or slogan: The concepts will be shared with UNEP, which will submit them to the other partners for consideration and, after three rounds of review and modification of the concepts, UNEP, in coordination with the partners, will select a concept.

3. Refine and finalise the selected brand identity based on the feedback from the previous phases and translate it into the languages in which the visual identity materials will be developed (at least English and Spanish) and hand it over to UNEP.

4. Develop a visual identity manual, considering the necessities of UNEP and the other partners, and the sustainability of the Action Programme. This final document will explain the selected brand concept, guide the future use of the visual identity materials, including the different versions and formats of the logo.

The expected outputs and deliverables are the following:

1. Desk review conducted and report with findings and recommendations developed and submitted to UNEP. Product No. 1: Report outlining work methods and main findings and recommendations for branding concepts.

2. Development of 3 creative branding concepts, including logo, statement or slogan and the key project messages.Product No. 2: At least 3 creative concepts for a complete branding and visual identity that communicates the essence of the Action Programme. The 3 creative concepts reviewed and corrected, to final selection after at least three rounds of reviews, feedback and amends.

3. Development of a visual identity manual. Product No. 3: Final report, in visual identity manual format, on the selected brand concept refined, finalised and translated, which sets out the future use of the visual identity materials, including the different versions and formats of the logo, and establishes the premises for its correct future use.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

The UNEP Latin America and the Caribbean Office (LACO), located in Panama City, works closely with the 33 countries of the region and its activities are integrated into the Medium-Term Strategy and the Programme of Work approved by the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA). The UNEP Caribbean Sub-Regional Office, located in Kingston, Jamaica, is a catalyst, advocate, educator and facilitator to promote the wise use and sustainable development of the Caribbean environment.

UNEP is an implementing partner in the European Union (EU) Action for the Caribbean, financed by the 11th European Development Fund on circular economy in general and of solid waste management in particular. The Action seeks to improve the resource efficiency of Caribbean economies and is aligned with the EU’s Green Deal, including green economy approaches and obligations regarding Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). UNEP’s support will focus on the normative, knowledge and policy engagement components of the Action, strengthening national legislative frameworks and facilitating sub-regional and Caribbean wide action.

The geographic scope of the Action includes the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) Member States (Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba). Other partners of the Action programme include the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and the Agence Francaise de Developpment (AFD), who will be focused on piloting technical interventions in selected countries. UNEP will promote uptake of best practices, lessons learned and appropriate and successful technology options.

This Action Programme includes a specific Communication and Visibility (C&V) plan. A common programme communication strategy will be defined from the start of the project, in accordance with related guidelines from the EU external actions and in agreement between the different partners, including GIZ and AFD. This C&V strategy and the programme knowledge management will be guided by UNEP, in particular, by the Communication and Knowledge Management specialist, who will be responsible for the further development and implementation of the C&V Plan and the knowledge management strategy of the Action Programme, including the supervision of the graphic design of the Programme's branding and visual identity materials, that needs to be developed as a first step in the strategy.

To this end, UNEP is seeking to recruit a digital producer, preferably with web development skills, to be responsible for the development of the Programme's branding and visual identity materials, considering different criteria and guidelines defined by UNEP and the different partners involved in the programme. This is a home-based product-based work, the and outputs of the individual contractor will be coordinated by the UNEP communication and knowledge management specialist and supervised by the UNEP Regional Coordinator of Chemicals and Pollution programme, LAC Office, in coordination with the head of UNEP's Sub-regional Office in the Caribbean.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:

- Bachelor´s Degree in graphic design, communications or related field is required.

Experience:

- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in digital media-communications production, graphic design, or related field is required. - Experience with computer data bases, web design, social media and information systems is desirable. - Experience in similar projects or initiatives dealing with international cooperation is an asset. - Familiarity with the goals and procedures of international organizations, in particular those of the UN and EU would be advantageous. - Familiarity with sustainable development issues, waste management, circular economy, or with the Caribbean SIDS would be advantageous.

Language:

- For the post fluency in English is required. - Confident level of Spanish is an asset.
