Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been operating in Ukraine since 2014 and is currently scaling up its operation in Ukraine to deliver lifesaving assistance and emergency response to people affected by the war.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Compliance and Quality Control Officer plays a pivotal role in the communication and data management processes of the Free Legal Aid Platform. This role involves engaging with both legal professionals and platform users to ensure the accuracy and availability of critical data. Furthermore, the officer collaborates in managing textual content on the platform through the Platform Admin panel and distributing vital information among lawyers and users.

Main responsibilities:

As a Compliance and Quality Control Officer, your primary responsibility is to ensure the quality and accuracy of legal consultations provided by the lawyers on the Digital Legal Aid Platform. You will be responsible for verifying the correctness of legal advice, compliance with internal policies, DRC's guidelines, and international humanitarian standards and principles. Your role also includes overseeing the accurate recording of data in the Platform's database, maintaining the internal DRC database, and communicating with Platform users to assess the quality and alignment of legal services with DRC's policies and international humanitarian standards. Reporting to the Digital Legal Aid Platform Coordinator, the officer will provide regular updates on the progress of your duties and conduct analytical research and needs assessments to analyze and improve the Platform's performance.:

  • Communication with Platform Lawyers: Foster effective communication channels with platform lawyers, addressing inquiries, and facilitating the exchange of information to ensure the smooth legal aid delivery.
  • Database Verification: Conduct meticulous checks of the platform database, including cross-referencing with the DRC database, to verify the accuracy and integrity of stored data.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input information about consultations into the platform's databases, maintaining data quality and ensuring its relevance.
  • User Interaction: Engage with platform users to gauge the quality of services provided, gather feedback, and address concerns or complaints in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Content Management: Assume responsibility for entering and managing textual content on the platform, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and aligns with the platform's objectives.
  • Information Dissemination: Distribute pertinent information to lawyers and users, which may include sharing useful materials, administering feedback forms, and responding to user queries within the platform's general chat.
  • Legal Consultation Verification: Ensure the correctness and quality of legal consultations provided by lawyers on the Platform.
  • Compliance Assessment: Verify that consultations align with internal DRC policies, guidelines, and international humanitarian standards and principles.
  • Database Accuracy: Oversee the accurate and complete recording of data by lawyers in the Platform's database.
  • Data Management: Maintain the internal DRC database, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • User Communication: Communicate with Platform users through various channels (hotline, email, etc.) to assess the quality and alignment of legal services with DRC policies and international humanitarian standards.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Digital Legal Aid Platform Coordinator on the progress of your duties and any identified issues.
  • Analytical Research: Conduct analytical research and needs assessments on collected data to identify areas for improvement and enhance the Platform's performance.

Required experience and competencies:

  • University Degree: Bachelor's degree in Law or related field.
  • Relevant Experience: A minimum of 2 years of official experience in the field of law.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English (B2 level) - preferred. Ukrainian and Russian languages - full proficiency.

We offer:

  • Contract length: 3 months renewable depending on performance and funding.
  • Duty Station: Kyiv
  • Start date: November 1st, 2023.
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
