You have:

Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
UNICEF Mozambique has prioritized digital learning as a flagship initiative to transform the education sector. The focus is on: • Providing multiple and flexible pathways to learning. • Improving the quality of teaching and learning. • Strengthening sector management and accountability.
Mozambique faces significant education challenges: although many children enroll in school, only two-thirds complete primary education, and just one in four completes secondary school. Even among those who attend, many lack essential skills for personal development and employability.
To address this, UNICEF is leading a digital learning agenda through: 1. Introducing digital learning in schools to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. 2. Developing an integrated digital ecosystem to guide adolescents and youth on their journey from learning to earning.
Two flagship platforms are under development: • Learning Passport: Supporting formal, in-school learning. • Maza: Providing individualized pathways for adolescents and youth to build 21st-century skills, including green, digital, transferable, and employability skills.
UNICEF seeks a Digital Learning Specialist to support in leveraging technology to transform education. This includes the design, adaptation, and delivery of interactive, inclusive, and contextually relevant digital content, aligned with national standards, pedagogy, and the needs of adolescents and youth. The UNV will work under the guidance and general supervision of the Digital Learning Specialist and the Chief of Education,
Key responsibilities will be: 1. Digital Infrastructure and Prototyping • Design a prototype for digital hubs and provide detailed technical specifications. • Develop TORs and manage procurement for digital hub equipment. • Establish and supervise the UNICEF Digital Lab.
Platform Development (Maza) • Review and validate the functionality of the Maza platform (front- and back-end). • Develop and maintain dashboards (registration, sign-in, data flow, user journey). • Support AI integration for self-assessment, translation, and related areas. • Facilitate integration with existing platforms (Talent BIZ, SMS BIZ, etc.).
Capacity Building and Supervision • Supervise and mentor digital learning interns working on content development. • Train Ministry of Education and Culture staff on digital content development. • Manage contracts with institutions and partners for content digitization.
Content Development • Review and adapt existing materials for digital formats. • Identify and customize open-source educational content. • Co-create engaging, interactive content, including: • Lessons and scripts • Interactive exercises • Quizzes and self-assessments • Audio-visual components • Ensure all content is inclusive, gender-transformative, culturally relevant, and aligned with national curriculum standards. • Incorporate feedback from users, partners, and pilot testing

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Maputo. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
