To enable UNICEF to deliver programmatic results for children, the organization needs to maximize income potential from the Private Sector. Latin America is a fast-growing region with high fundraising expectations. Unlocking the full potential of digital is key to realizing growth of Individuals fundraising in the region.

How can you make a difference?

The main purpose of the job is to boost digital acquisition and retention through digital channels, in order to increase UNICEF revenue in Latin America and diversify its sources of income. To achieve these results, the professional will support the digital teams from the markets in the region to increase their digital fundraising activities and maximize its results, providing additional capacity and capability.

Specific Tasks:

  • Boost current digital fundraising activities in Latin America and launch new initiatives at a regional level, starting activities in markets that are currently not fundraising.
  • Provide specialist input and directly implement digital activity across the 6 emerging markets in the region to achieve the digital goals.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of digital in emerging markets. Support markets in the region upon request.
  • Collaborate with Communications, Individual Giving and Telemarketing specialists in the region to boost acquisition, integrate channels and boost retention.
  • Support emergency fundraising campaigns, coordinating markets to be first movers in the region. For markets which are not currently fundraising, setting up SEM and remarketing campaigns.
  • Optimize and creating an improvement plan on web funnel and digital activities through Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO).
  • Help to develop a digital A/B testing plan, working with technical providers local teams promoting new ways to improve conversion rate in every digital asset (web, email, apps, etc...).
  • Manage and optimize UNICEF’s global giving platform, content to provide tools for markets to fundraise.
  • Maintain the digital dashboard that gathers all main KPIs on digital. Use Analytics and other tools to automate the data collection and generate regional reports on UNICEF Global Giving Platform for donations and conversion.
  • Boost regional lead acquisition activities through actions such as creating, processing and sharing new content to be used by markets.
  • Work with markets to define lead nurturing processes and content.
  • Support regional donor retention and conversion activities through emailing journeys for retention, lead nurturing and line & circle, developing and sharing marketing content throughout the region.
  • Coordinate and onboard providers, following current contracts and activating new ones.
  • Develop digital webinars for Latin American digital staff.
  • Share best practices in between markets: campaigns, content, emailing process, lead generation, and lead nurturing activities.
  • Run and coordinate digital webinars to share best practices among LAC markets.
  • Introduce new initiatives which may help markets achieve their goals.

  • A regional Dashboard for data analysis is updated.

  • Work with PFP teams in PFP markets to deliver on income targets associated with investment.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

Education

A first level university Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Digital Fundraising, or other relevant fields is required. Any other additional training in a related field is an asset.

Work Experience

6 years of progressively responsible work experience in digital marketing or digital fundraising areas, with specific focus on areas such as digital acquisition, cultivation and retention of pledge donors, integrated media planning, and marketing communications and multi-channel campaign management. It would be an advantage if the person had gained the above experience in both agency and charity environments. Previous work in the region with relevant markets is an asset. Previous work with UNICEF is an asset.

Languages

Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of Portuguese will be considered an asset.

Technical knowledge (if applicable)

Specific digital media knowledge, analytics and tracking, A/B testing, SEO, proficiency in the use of search engine algorithms, coding, content management systems, search engine marketing (SEM), online paid media, web and donation forms development, UX, CRM, CRO, e-mail broadcasting tools & marketing automation tools. HTML experience recommended.

Other skills and attributes (optional)

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mind oriented.

Experience training and upskilling teams.

Excellent communication skills, (both written and oral) to translate complicated business requirements into technical based language, and vice versa.

Administrative details:

Supervision: The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Individual Giving Manager LACRO.

Workplace: Home-based. Travel will be covered by UNICEF as per policy.

• Travel costs will be estimated and added to the contract once they are determined based on UNICEF Financial Rules and Regulations.

• For agreed country visits, the contractor/consultant will be responsible in administering their own travel. UNICEF will reimburse travel related expenses based on actual costs or on the below criteria whichever is lower and upon presentation of receipts.

• Any travel involved should be budgeted according to UN Travel Standards as a ceiling.

• UN Secretariat Administrative Instruction on Official Travel, ST/AI/2013/3: Sect. 4, para. 4.2, numerals (d) and (e)

• For information on Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA), can be found on the International Civil Service Commission website (all countries and destinations can be found by navigating on the map).

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Duration of contract: Estimated start date of this consultancy is the first week of February 2022 for a period of 11.5 months.
