The Position:

The Digital Communications Specialist position is located in the Media & Communications Branch of the Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS) and reports directly to the Digital Communications Manager. The Digital Communications Specialist works as part of the Digital Communications Team.

Job Purpose:

UNFPA is maintaining over 135 externally facing Country and Regional Office websites to drive advocacy and results for women and girls and to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The Media and Communications Branch of UNFPA is looking for a Digital Communications Specialist to support UNFPA Country- and Regional Offices with the management of those websites and to align digital communication across the organization. The ideal candidate has experience creating and driving global digital communications campaigns and managing content and website production for an international development organization. The Digital Communications Specialist will act as lead project manager of the 135 UNFPA Country- and Regional Office websites worldwide. This includes providing strategic guidance, coordinating and implementing the creation and development support of interactive campaigns and project websites. The Digital Communications Specialist acts as liaison between the country- level communication focal points on one side and the external designers, developers and quality assurance teams on the other. The Digital Communications Specialist also acts as the guardian of the website policy. The successful candidate will help regulate the creation of externally facing websites and mobile applications, with the objective of securing UNFPA’s online presence and reinforcing the UNFPA brand.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education: Advanced university degree in Communications or a related field is required. Knowledge and Experience: • 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of digital communications. • Ability to leverage information technology, executive information systems, management techniques and tools for optimal office performance • Knowledge and experience related to gender equality issues, sexual and reproductive health, human rights, and youth issues is an advantage • 1-2 years International work experience and ability to develop strong relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds • Strong communications skills, with proven expertise in developing compelling and modern digital communications materials • Sound knowledge of web 2.0 and digital technologies • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Languages: Complete fluency in written and spoken English is essential; working proficiency of French and Spanish is strongly desirable. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
