This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global development network. It advocates for positive change and connects countries to knowledge and resources to help ordinary people build better lives. UNDP has been working in Lebanon since 1960, supporting the government and the people in their efforts to recover from the civil war, build lasting peace, generate sustainable and equitable growth, and mobilize funds from donors to help the country in these efforts.

The Digital Communications Specialist will be supporting the country office in communicating about the impact that UNDP does in Lebanon, regionally, and globally by working on digital content and disseminating it.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Communication Unit and the Senior Communication and Media Officer his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Manage UNDP Lebanon’s social media accounts • Support in developing and implementing a digital communications strategy • Manage the social media calendar and develop content (stories, posts, captions) and key strategic messages to be used across UNDP Lebanon’s digital platforms • Manage digital campaigns such as Facebook ads, email shots, and messenger bots… • Support in email marketing, measure engagement, and follow-up on results • Define Key Performance Indicators and monitor and measure the digital platforms’ performance • Work closely with cross-sectoral teams to go after stories and content for digital platforms • Support in implementing UN digital campaigns • Develop monthly analytical reports on performance and targeted digital campaigns • Be across trends in the social media space, review best practice and make recommendations on how to improve UNDP Lebanon’s digital platforms • Develop a multimedia library including photos and videos • Attend conferences/events for live coverage. • Get quotes from stakeholders during events for social media reporting • Replace the communication Assistant during her leave • Get familiar with the updating/adding information on UNDP website
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

social media management, digital communications, marketing, corporate communications, or other relevant programmes at the national and/or international level. Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset but not required. • Experience in managing social media accounts and email marketing campaigns • Experience in content development and in capturing and writing stories for online audiences • Ability to understand complex information and turn them into easy to understand material for social media • Excellent English and Arabic oral and written skills • Excellent drafting and reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Have affinity with or interest in UNDP, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Lebanon. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
