Overview

Generate compelling content for digital platforms and social media.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in journalism, marketing, communications, international development, social and political sciences or related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in journalism, communications, marketing, and social media management is required.
  • Experience in maintaining social media accounts, especially Facebook, Instagram and Twitter is required.
  • Knowledge in graphic design, ability to create designs for digital media purposes in graphic design programmes, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc. is desirable.
  • Ability to take quality photographs and videos; and photo/video editing skills and experience in developing compelling content for online audiences are desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Albanian are required; knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Commitment to gender equality and implementing gender-focused initiatives in work.

Result of Service The Digital and Communications Consulant will generate and deliver compelling content in social media and digital platforms related to the implementation of key communication priorities including: - Results reporting, - Sustainable Development Goals promotion, - Action for climate, - UN Covid-19 Response and fighting misinformation, - UN Days, - International campaigns and initiatives, - UN Country Team's events.

Work Location This role is located in Tirana, Albania

Expected duration The assignment of the national consultant will be for a total amount 60 working days starting on 15 September 2022 and ending on 31 December 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The Resident Coordinator System (RCS) encompasses all organizations of the UN system dealing with operational activities for development, regardless of their formal presence in the country. The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and the Government of Albania are in the first year of implementation of the new 5-year Albania-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2022-2026).

As UN places strong emphasis on online engagement, through virtual dialogues and social media, and it is now increasing these efforts in light of Covid-19. All these requires enhanced digital communication and increased visibility specifically through interactive content via social media and digital platforms.

In this context, the Resident Coordinator Office in Albania looking for a Digital Communications Consultant who will assist the office in generating and delivering compelling content in social media and digital platforms related to the implementation of key communication priorities including, results reporting, SDG promotion, action for climate, UN Covid-19 Response and fighting misinformation, UN Days, international campaigns and initiatives, UN Country Team's events and others.

Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in journalism, marketing and communications, international development, social and political sciences or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in one or combined areas of journalism, communications, marketing and social media management is required.

Experience in maintaining social media accounts, especially Facebook, Instagram and Twitter is required.

Knowledge and/or some demonstrable experience in graphic design, ability to create designs for digital media purposes in graphic design programmes, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva etc is desirable.

Ability to take quality photographs and videos; and photo/video editing skills and experience in developing compelling content to generate response from audiences online is desirable.

Previous experience with development agencies and knowledge of the UN Sustainable Development Goals with an understanding of Albania’s policy priorities and national plans and its link with the global development agendas is desirable.

English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening fluency in English and Albanian are required.
