Result of Service - Maintain a vibrant social media presence which conforms to latest global trends and edutainment of the UN’s work in Namibia - Optimise content and posts for each platform’s requirements particularly on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube - Use social media guidelines responsibly in alignment of UN guidelines and brand.

Duties and Responsibilities The selected candidate will apply her/his skills in the field of communications to support the activities of UNIC Windhoek. The incumbent will assist the office in implementing its communications strategy particularly on social media platform, including training UNIC Windhoek personnel to improve their social media skills. The incumbent will report to UNIC Windhoek Head of Office. The IC will be responsible for the following activities: - Conceptualize and create original multimedia content for UN communications campaigns within the Namibian context. This includes planning, sourcing, and editing content, such as videos, photos for all UN Namibia social media platforms. - Regularly update United Nations Country Team (UNCT) Namibia social media platforms, create platform-specific content for both UNIC Windhoek and UN Namibia. - Support the compilation, proofreading and editing of articles that are sourced from various UN agencies to be published. - Represent and participate in the inter-agency working group on social media and provide feedback. - Participate in the UN Communications Group (UNCG) activities and perform functions related to UN Namibia social media platforms. - Attend designated meetings for ideas or content for social media platforms, provide feedback and assist with related communications support as required. - Report monthly digital communication analytics in CIMS - Support with the regular content updates of UN Namibia website; soliciting human interest and success stories from UNCG on weekly basis; maintain an up-to-date web profile of UNCT and UNCG members; assist with the uploading of the SDG Book Club African Chapter campaign material; maintain an up-to-date web profile of UNCT and UNCG members. - Provide assistance and training to UNIC Windhoek staff on the use of communication equipment such as photo cameras, video cameras and related equipment in producing multimedia content. - Provide assistance and training to UNIC Windhoek staff on the most effective way of optimizing the use of content on social media platforms. - Assist with stock management of branding material - keep an up-to-date stock control inventory of borrowing, storing, tracking and returning of stock. - Report UNIC Windhoek communication and advocacy initiatives and assistance rendered to RCO, inter-agency and joint UN Namibia priorities in CIMS. - Assist with research and perform any other duties as assigned by UNIC Windhoek Head of Office

Qualifications/special skills First-level university degree in or similar qualification in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field. - Ability to learn and act in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team. - High motivation to learn and grow professionally; - Ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment and to maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. - A minimum of three years of work experience in on communications particularly on conducting outreach campaigns using social media is required. - Knowledge or experience in running outreach campaigns for the United Nations or a similar international organization is desirable.

Languages Fluency in English is required. Knowledge in French is desirable.
