Under the supervision of the Communication Specialist NOC, the NOB Digital Communication Officer will help develop the Integrated Digital Strategy joining FR's digital plan with communication and programmatic messages, to spread them through digital channels, ensuring that all follow the same UNICEF's editorial line, with the same human rights approach. The incumbent will contribute to harmonize messages related to FR, political advocacy and the country program. Furthermore, will analyze the use of digital space with an integrated and holistic vision, to ensure that the image of UNICEF is linked to its main mission, guarantee the rights of children, and the fundraising objectives, in accordance with the CO strategy. The NOB Digital Communication Officer will support the development of innovative alliances with digital platforms and the IT sector and run initiatives using digital environments that expand UNICEF’s reach and engagement with new audiences and drive the growth of private resources

1. UNICEF Argentina Integrated Digital Strategy.

  • Help develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the UNICEF Argentina Integrated Digital Strategy to meet organizational goals.
  • Help develop and implement the Integrated Digital Strategy joining FR's digital plan with communication and programmatic messages, to spread them through digital channels, ensuring that all follow the same UNICEF's editorial line, with the same human rights approach.
  • Present comments and suggestions on the FR Digital Annual Plan.
  • Support in overseeing digital contents and take responsibility for the final validation
  • Help analyze the use of digital space with an integrated and holistic vision, to ensure that the image of UNICEF is linked to its main mission, guarantee the rights of children, and the fundraising objectives, in accordance with the CO strategy.
  • Identify situations of reputational risk and take actions to mitigate them.
  • Harmonize the calendar of organic and programmed content to avoid overlaps between PFP, COMMS and / or PROGRAMS campaigns directed and / or with an impact on the same audiences and / or on the same channels / networks.
  • Support all digital supporter engagement functions in the office (in- house and contracted agencies), including content production.

2. Digital platforms & coordinate digital events.

  • Help oversee digital platforms (website, microsites, campaign sites, and newsletter and social media channels) so that content and assets are well-integrated and easily adapted across platforms, to facilitate participation, engagement and conversions (donations) and other actions in support of UNICEF
  • Oversight of comments management and interaction / engagement with followers.
  • Ensure regular and timely posting of content on social media platforms which is appropriate, engaging and on-message.
  • Help engage and build online relationships with supporters and partners in a respectful, brand consistent and sensitive manner, responding to social media activity as per organizational guidelines, and recommend appropriate action as needed to maintain a positive brand image.
  • Provide technical support in designing, implementing and coordinating audience-focused digital communication activities across a range of digital channels, including social media.
  • Identify and respond to appropriate opportunities to act as a strong public voice for children, particularly where the audiences include youth, donors/supporters, potential donors/supporters and policy influencers.
  • Help develop and maintain close relationships and collaboration with digital groups, media, UN agencies and companies as well as youth-focused digital organizations and make use of them to drive ARG CO digital communication agenda.
  • Enable the effective incorporation of multi-media and digital resources/use of digital channels around events, speaking engagements, ambassadorial and other communication activities.
  • Help oversee content, structure, upload, troubleshooting, website management.
  • Articulate with digital and social media teams in the RO, DOC, PFP and coordinate priorities and messaging when appropriate and share content.

3. Oversight and develop suitable content

  • Oversight, create, source, commission and manage digital content that is accurate, timely, relevant and on-brand for online public advocacy and youth engagement.
  • Coordinate and support the organization of the “Content Committee” for the CO.
  • Define and implement a content approach for digital platforms that reflects the ARG CO priorities in programmes, advocacy and resource mobilization, as well as regional and global campaigns, framed in the Integrated Digital Strategy.
  • Contribute to harmonize messages related to FR, political advocacy and the country program. Ensure that they are aligned with advocacy and media strategies.
  • Help coordinate the efforts of cross-functional teams including consultants, web producers, multimedia editors, social media staff, managing workload, organizational expectations
  • Work with colleagues and partners to produce accurate and engaging visual and written content/multimedia assets to promote ARG CO and its priorities via digital platforms, including social media, overseeing production, translation, layout, graphic design and overall quality control to ensure stability for both mainstream and social media platforms.

4. Plan, monitor and evaluate.

  • Undertake regular planning, monitoring and evaluation activities to the work plan for digital platforms to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts.
  • Robust social listening to identify key trends, conversations, and reputational risks or successes. Utilize this analysis to increase engagement across social media platforms.
  • Compile audience research and information on social media trends and developments as available through external and internal sources, analyze them and inform the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the integrated digital communication strategy and related annual work plans and budget, proposing adjustments as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate online communication for quality, consistency, effectiveness and compliance with UNICEF policy and guidelines, including on brand/style.
  • Compile and analyze statistics for websites and social media platforms and provide regular reports and recommendations to guide future decisions.
  • Analyze periodically the implementation, improvement and review of the Integrated Digital Strategy and the FR Plan.
  • Document, monitor and evaluate digital campaigns and event, and make recommendations for improvements.

5. Embraced change and innovation

  • Be a digital champion for developing internal capacity in public outreach through digital communication to support organizational goals.
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging web and digital technologies and advise on how they can join the Integrated Digital Strategy.
  • Coordinate training for staff and partners as appropriate to update ARG CO websites and social media content.
  • Act as first point of contract for internal and external web related queries.
  • Conceptualize, research and advise on the latest technology trends, new emerging digital platforms, best practices and benchmarks, to maximize digital supporter engagement
  • Identify key professional blogs and e-forums relating to UNICEF priorities and facilitate participation for relevant staff.
  • Support in developing innovative alliances with digital platforms and the IT sector and run initiatives using digital environments that expand UNICEF’s reach and engagement with new audiences and drive the growth of private resources.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: A first level University Degree in Digital Communications, Social Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Political Science, Information Science or a related field is required. Advanced University Degree in Digital Communications, Marketing, Information Science or any other related field is considered an asset.

Experience: At least 2 years of practical professional work experience writing and producing engaging and quality content for digital platforms, especially social media. Experience in the use of content management systems, statistical analysis, project management, is a definitive asset. Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

Language requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) is an asset.
