The Digital Analyst role resides in the Digital Strategy Section within UNICEF's Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (DGCA). The Section consists of the Web Editorial, Digital Governance and Web Platforms, Social Media, and Digital Marketing and Partnerships teams, all working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide expert digital services and capacity building within the organization.

Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, the Digital Strategy Section draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability. We create and deliver compelling content to international audiences of parents, young people and UNICEF supporters, building engaged communities in multiple languages.

How can you make a difference?

The Digital Analyst position reports to the Digital Analytics and Management Lead and is responsible for and requires expert-level knowledge of digital monitoring, analytics, social listening and SEO. UNICEF is looking for a data-driven individual with a proven track record of drawing insights from a variety of digital analytics and social listening tools in support of overarching organizational priorities.

The position will lead on digital optimization and analytics with exposure across all channels (social, web – including organic and paid, SEO, blog, email), spearheading projects and working closely with external vendors, using cutting-edge social listening and analytics tools.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

Ongoing monitoring of and reporting on digital channel performance

  • Utilize a variety of digital analysis tools such as Google Analytics, SEM Rush, Hootsuite, TalkWalker, CrowdTangle, native social media analytics and more to generate detailed monthly and annual digital performance reports.
  • Ensure that every new external global digital platform and campaign includes the required technical implementation for data gathering and reporting.
  • Provide teams across DGCA with intelligence and insights as needed.

Strategic insights and proactive optimization of strategies, content and channels

  • Provide timely and strategic insights on content performance (organic and paid) across various digital channels, and work with the respective teams to optimize content development and distribution processes.
  • Leverage social listening tools to inform actionable insights on trending topics ahead of major campaigns and in support of UNICEF’s ongoing priorities.
  • Proactively monitor UNICEF’s Google Analytics to identify unusual traffic patterns, set up alerts and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Advise on best industry practices and suggest use of new features and tools to optimize digital monitoring and evaluation

Standard development and capacity building

  • Develop capacity-building activities to ensure fundamental digital analytics principles are understood and implemented across UNICEF’s offices in HQ and the field.
  • Provide research, analysis and recommendations for SEO, including guidance on best practices and integration with web platforms.
  • Develop analytics and SEO standards, procedures and guidelines to ensure high quality of technical setup and implementation across all UNICEF web products.
  • Research and incorporate actionable findings on latest digital analytics and SEO industry trends and best practices.

Technical implementation and coordination with external vendors

  • Work closely with the Digital Governance and Platform team and with an external vendor to implement and configurate accurate analytics and user-friendly dashboards.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical support for implementation of A/B testing on the global unicef.org platform.
  • Regularly liaise with the external vendor managing the back-end analytics for the global unicef.org platform to address any ad hoc requests and problems raised by teams across UNICEF.
  • Participate in procurement-related activities to procure data analytics, SEO and social listening services.
  • Support the team in completing the migration from Universal Google Analytics to the new GA4, including development of any necessary organizational guidance and troubleshooting in coordination with external vendor.
  • Support the global management of the Meta Conversions API and other advertising integrations across UNICEF websites.

Impact of Results

The Digital Analyst will use their problem-solving skills to answer key analytics questions and provide business insights to optimize and improve UNICEF’s digital goals. They will provide ideas and advise the team on how to optimize UNICEF's online presence and content strategy to increase brand awareness, improve engagement rate and maximize potential for growth across various digital platforms.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Digital Marketing, Business Administration, Management, Information Technology or related field. A first level University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in digital analytics, SEO, digital media or digital marketing
  • Expertise in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and SEO tools and methodologies
  • Expertise in social media measurement, with experience in all major platforms.
  • Expertise in paid media measurement, with strong knowledge of advertising strategies and experience in Meta platforms, Google Ads and other digital channels.
  • Close familiarity with social listening methodologies and tools
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills: capacity to communicate complex findings in an understandable way
  • Solid understanding of industry trends
  • Excellent writing skills and experience working with editorial and content calendars
  • Experience with work in the UN or a non-profit organization is a plus

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset
