Result of Service Under the overall supervision of the Director of Communications and Arabic Spokesperson, the Digital Communications Officer will provide expertise to provide reliable and time-sensitive information about Palestine refugees; pro-actively promote the Agency’s work in the service of and its impact on Palestine refugees; and robustly advocate on behalf of Palestine refugees on UNRWA social media platforms, in addition to using them as meaningful springboards for donor visibility. The ultimate objective is to significantly engage with all potential audiences to create a solid enabling environment to help UNRWA maximize both political and financial support.

Qualified applicants must have a passion for and be well-versed in various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube and develop evidence-based digital communications strategies related to the overall UNRWA Communication and Resource Mobilization Strategies, as well as UN-wide communication priorities, particularly with regard to the promotion the Sustainable Development Goals (Decade of Action). They must have proven experience in improving digital platform performance, including reach and meaningful engagement.

The post will be based at UNRWA HQ offices in East Jerusalem.

Work Location UNRWA Headquarters JERUSALEM

Expected duration 1 of October 2022 ( Preferred ) ,contract duration eleven months with the possibility of renewal. Remuneration for this consultancy equivalent to P3 position.

Duties and Responsibilities Under the guidance of the UNRWA Senior Communications Officer, the incumbent will support the office in the following duties and responsibilities:

Create and manage UNRWA social media channels, uploading information and materials; - Design, create and manage evidence-based UNRWA digital advocacy campaigns; - Schedule and draft posts for UNRWA social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter in coordination with UNRWA field public information offices and the Department of Strategic Partnerships - Monitor social media pages and engage with users, providing initial feedback in consultation with the Director of UNRWA Communications to ensure that ethical standards are maintained; - Oversee design and brand consistency of various social media platforms in coordination with the Editor and Publications Officer; - Collaborate with the communications team to compile social media analytics and digest those into actionable summaries; - Provide copy-editing and writing support where needed, including the drafting of press releases and other public-facing documentation. - Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills Competency: Strong organisational skills (ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks); Highly motivated, comfortable taking initiative and able to work with minimum supervision; Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral; Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural setting; Displays good judgment to political and cultural sensitivities. Skills: Knowledge of the Middle East conflict, the situation of Palestine refugees and the work of UNRWA. Experience using Photoshop and Illustrator to edit and format images for use in social media; Experience with the UN or international development organizations. Academic Qualifications: Advanced level (master’s) university degree in communications, marketing, media or a related field, or a degree in a relevant field combined with solid work experience in use of digital communication. Experience: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in the field of digital communications, including recent experience in content development and networking for social media platforms and analytics, in the context of international development is required. two years of which should be international level outside candidates home country, country of citizenship or country on which the candidate had permanent residence Language: Excellent English and Arabic written and oral skills.
