This UNV assignment is part of UNICEF´s Covid-19 response programming, framed on managing the COVID-19 infodemic: Promoting healthy behaviours and mitigating the harm from misinformation and disinformation.

Under the close supervision of the Communications Specialist, the incumbent UNV will support in the planning, development, and implementation of a digital media strategy, aligned with the Communication and Advocacy Strategy for promoting the rights of children and partnerships/fundraising objectives. This will support the expansion of Nicaragua Country Office’s digital presence per the needs of Country Programme (CP) and UNICEF´s global digital media guidelines. The UNV Digital Communication Associate will:

• Enhance access to information and leverage digital technologies in the fight against the Covid 19 pandemic, with emphasis in social media to promote public health campaigns and vaccine uptake. • Develop a digital communications strategy and ensure its implementation. • Monitoring and evaluation of key performance indicators on the digital ecosystem. • Support the development of digital communications products that will be shared through social media platforms, among these and not limited to press coverages, press releases, human interest stories. • Propose, plan and quality assurance of online advocacy and communications events such as and not limited to Facebook Lives, Online panels, webinars, email-based newsletters. • Support UNICEF´s partners on digital media capacity building and product development. • Support SharePoint Administration, providing support and management of the SharePoint platform, including content configuration. • Support U-Report implementation, since this tool will be also used from the main social networks, Facebook and Twitter, and will be available on WhatsApp. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Results/expected outputs:

As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: • Manages the UNICEF Nicaragua website, ensuring regular and frequent updates. Manages the CMS (Drupal, Red-Dot, etc.) system to include text, image, video, audio and animations. • Increase website’s visits and engagement/reach on social media platforms. • Manages sub-sites for ad-hoc projects. Selects and supervises suppliers for hosting, design, multimedia, etc. Manage the Search Engine Optimization initiatives. • Prepares monthly reports and evaluation activities to ensure the use, effectiveness and impact of the website. Elaborates and implements recommendations to improve the website. • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

Communications, or digital marketing, or other relevant programmes (at least 10 years of professional experience and 5 years of relevant experience in the aforementioned fields).

Desirables: Experience as social media manager, working in the UN or other international development organization. - Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development. - Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; - Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; - Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; - Sound security awareness; - Have affinity with or interest in communications for development field, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, full time, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan
