UN Women (UNW), grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, the UN Women leads and coordinates the United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. UN Women plays an innovative and catalytic role in the State of Palestine since its inception in 1997. UN Women Palestine Office focuses its activities on one overarching goal, namely, to support the implementation at the national level of existing international commitments to advance gender equality in line with the national priorities. In support of this goal, and thoroughly taking into consideration the specificities of the Palestinian context, UN Women concentrates its efforts and interventions toward the realization of following strategic goals: Mainstreaming gender in governance, peace and security; Supporting women's economic security and rights; and Promoting women’s rights and protection against violence. The Palestine UN Women office’s (PALCO) programme of work is set out in the Strategic Note 2018 – 2021, which is aligned with the global UN Women Strategic Plan and key international frameworks such as Agenda 2030, Beijing Platform for Action, Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and other international norms and standards. A significant element of the Strategic Note is an enhanced strategic approach to communication, with the aim of increasing the visibility of the UN Women Palestine office and public awareness of both success stories and the specific gaps and challenges to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in the region. The Palestine office would like to adopt several digital communication materials suited to the national context and able to attract and support the engagement of diverse stakeholder groups, with a strong emphasis on an enhanced and dynamic online presence. Against this backdrop, UN Women Palestine would like to bring on board a UNV Digital Communication Assistant. The overall objective of the proposed assignment is to provide support to UN Women Palestine Country Office investment in digital space with a focus on social media platforms, and the production of high-quality digital and multi-media materials that contributes to the enhancement of UN Women Palestine presence and outreach in the country.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the UN Women Special Representative in the State of Palestine and under direct supervision by the Communications Officer, the UNV Digital Communication Assistant will undertake the following tasks: • Content Creation: 1. Assist in the development and creation of content for various digital platforms, including social media, websites, and other online channels. 2. Produce multimedia content, such as graphics, videos, and infographics, to support UN Women Palestine’s online presence and reach. 3. Assist in the planning and the development of content related to all relevant key global, regional and national events for social media and website dissemination. 4. Design and convert UN Women publication outputs into digital communication assets, including facts & figures, infographics etc, for social media platforms and web use. • Social Media Management: 5. Manage and update UN Women Palestine's social media accounts. 6. Monitor social media trends and engagement metrics to optimize content strategy. 7. Assist in designing and development of new and relevant content to be published on social media platforms and update scheduling calendar on a weekly basis. • Website Management: 8. Update and maintain UN Women Palestine's website with ongoing and relevant information. 9. Maintain the front page of UN Women Palestine’s website to be more interactive and updated. 10. Publish on UN Women Palestine’s website newly developed stories, press releases, publications, etc, and generate links for dissemination. 11. Support in increasing UN Women Palestine’s web traffic. • Digital Campaigns: 12. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of digital campaigns. 13. Monitor and evaluate the impact of digital campaigns, providing insights for future improvements. • Community Engagement: 14. Foster engagement and interaction with the online community through social media, forums, and other digital channels.

• Analytics and Reporting: 15. Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze the performance of digital communication efforts. 16. Provide regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and suggest improvements based on insights. 17. Monitor and report UN Women Palestine’s mentions and public perception on its work in the digital space and any other harmful comments. • Collaboration: 18. Collaborate with other teams within UN Women, including communication, Programme, and advocacy teams, to ensure alignment in messaging and goals. 19. Work with external partners and stakeholders to enhance digital outreach and collaboration. • Stay Updated on Trends: 20. Stay informed about digital communication trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. 21. Pitch, integrate new and innovative approaches into digital communication strategies. • Brand Management: 22. Ensure consistency in branding across all digital platforms. 23. Maintain UN Women's brand guidelines in digital content creation and dissemination. 24. Design any newsletters, presentations, publications using UN Women’s branding and guidelines as needed. • Archiving: 25. Regularly update UN Women Palestine’s media library with all developed multi-media assets including photos and videos and other materials on SharePoint following UN Women’s archive guidelines. • Photography and videography: 26. Take high quality photos during UN Women Palestine’s major office events as needed. 27. Take high quality videos during UN Women Palestine’s major office events as needed.

experience in the area of communication, digital media, public information, or other relevant areas.

Experience with developing digital communication assets on gender equality and women’s rights are desired.

● Previous experience working with UN / International organization is desired.
● Previous technical experience in using graphic design, video production and editing software’s (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effect, Adobe Premiere) is a must. ● Previous technical experience in using Microsoft office software’s (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is a must. ● Photography and videography skills is a plus. ● Previous technical expertise on social media, digital communication and in dealing with different types of social media analytical tools is desirable. ● Proficiency in oral and written Arabic and English are essential

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. A 12-month contract with subsequent contract extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 5750 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as Exit allowance for satisfactory service.
