This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The Digital Assistant will support UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office’s (EAPRO) effort in strategically showcasing the organization’s work online through social media as well as expanding its outreach to regional audiences and communities, including youth engagement. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting to implement an integrated digital communication strategy and generating content specific to UNICEF EAPRO’s digital platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and create content for social media channels, and to be able to plan content, run campaigns and analyze the effectiveness of campaigns using audience insights. The incumbent should have a deep knowledge of social media and trends and be able to recommend actions to expand growth and increase engagement.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Regional Communication Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Digital Communication Assistant will undertake the following tasks:

• Social media community management • Create, edit and/or author communication content across major social accounts (with support from the communication team) • Assist UNICEF EAPRO in developing scalable capabilities for the creation of new types of content that are becoming increasingly important to reach and engage our audiences on social media – such as ultra-short videos, reels, TikTok style content, etc. • Monitor and analyze engagement of social media platforms, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, and make recommendations to improve reach • Oversight of social media campaigns • Social media coverage of events (e.g., campaigns, high level meetings) • Participate in the UNICEF digital community of practice and share lessons learned and best practices that are applicable to other digital workers • Analyze comparators and adjust activities based upon identified information and best practices

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day). • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.

Results/expected outputs:

• As an active UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office’s (EAPRO) team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office’s (EAPRO) and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: • Expanded reach and engagement across all digital platforms • Created compelling digital content • Helped develop new content creation capabilities for UNICEF EAPRO – e.g., reels, ultra-short form / TikTok style videos • Supported the attainment of the aims of the Regional Digital Strategy • The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs). • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in, and capacities developed

Social Sciences, Social Media, graphic designing, Information Technology or relevant field • Social media campaign development and exposure, preferably in a humanitarian or not-for-profit environment • Social media platforms in professional settings, including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube • Experience with graphic, photo and video design/editing • Writing, editing, and crafting content for social media • Analysing and interpreting audience data from Google Analytics and Facebook insights.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

Benefits and Entitlements:

The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service. Contingent on specific eligibility criteria, location of the volunteer assignment and contractual type and category, the payment of allowances will begin from the date of Commencement of Service. See Annex 05 for allowances.

Monthly living Allowance (per month) is around 47,500 Thai Baht Entry Lump Sum (one-time payment) USD 400 Exit Allowance (for each month served paid on completion of assignment) USD 112.82 Medical and Life Insurance Coverage
