The Palestine UN Women office’s (PALCO) programme of work is set out in the Strategic Note 2018 – 2021, which is aligned with the global UN Women Strategic Plan and key international frameworks such as Agenda 2030, Beijing Platform for Action, Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and other international norms and standards. A significant element of the Strategic Note is an enhanced strategic approach to communication, with the aim of increasing the visibility of the UN Women Palestine office and public awareness of both success stories and the specific gaps and challenges to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in the region. The Palestine office would like to adopt several digital communication materials suited to the national context and able to attract and support the engagement of diverse stakeholder groups, with a strong emphasis on an enhanced and dynamic online presence.

Against this backdrop, UN Women Palestine would like to bring on board a UNV Digital Communication Assistant. The overall objective of the proposed assignment is to provide support to UN Women Palestine Country Office investment in digital space with a focus on social media platforms, and the production of high-quality digital and multi-media materials that contributes to the enhancement of UN Women Palestine presence and outreach in the country.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the UN Women Special Representative in the State of Palestine and under direct supervision by the Communications Officer, the UNV Digital Communication Assistant will undertake the following tasks:

● Create and develop high quality engaging digital communication materials and content for UN Women Palestine social media platforms and website. ● Assist with pitching and developing new and creative digital communication approaches. ● Assist with monitoring and evaluating process of social media and web traffic and provide monthly reports on key performance indicators. ● Support the enhancement of the quality, consistency and appropriateness of digital communication materials, activities, processes and messages. ● Assist with the Development of an online evaluation tool (Survey) to assess the impact of social media messaging on the target audience online. ● Assist in scheduling key global, regional and national events in 2022 that should be highlighted on PALCO’s social media and develop, in collaboration with the Communication Officer, social media assets and digital materials to be adapted in due course. ● Assist in tracking social media trends, UN Women Palestine mentions and public perception on its work in the digital space. ● Develop and update social media publishing calendar on a weekly basis. ● Design UN Women Palestine monthly newsletter template and other resource mobilization and advocacy digital communication materials, including presentations, and assist with collecting and updating their content regularly.
● Assist with the development of an online media library and archiving digital content and multi-media assets including photos and videos and other materials. ● Design and convert UN Women publication outputs into digital communication assets including facts & figures, infographics etc. for social media platforms and web use.
● Assist with taking photos during the major office events. ● Assist with editing and proofreading English and Arabic content as requested. ● Assist with additional related communication work as required. ● Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

● Minimum 3 years of experience in the area of communication, digital media, public information, or other relevant areas. Experience with developing digital communication assets on gender equality and women’s rights are desired. ● Previous experience working with UN / International organisation is desired.
● Previous technical experience in using graphic design and video production and editing software’s (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effect, Adobe Premiere) is a must. ● Previous technical expertise on social media, digital communication and in dealing with different types of social media analytical tools is desirable. ● Proficiency in oral and written Arabic and English are essential.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. Travel allowance (Relocation costs) will be provided in the event duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 4724.83 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and exit allowance for satisfactory service.
