Overview

Develop a digital campaign strategy to raise awareness on violence against children.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, human rights, international relations, social sciences communication or other related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience at national, regional and international level in communication and advocacy, human rights, civil society mobilization, political affairs, international relations, law reform, or related area is required.
  • Fluency and excellent drafting skills in English and French are required. Knowledge in other official UN languages is desirable.
  • Proven ability to elaborate and implement communication and digital media strategy plan. Experience in creating and designing original content targeting all stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in leading communication, media and advocacy campaigns, digital and social media presence and increased visibility, basic knowledge of graphic and design, brand content, follow up of social media content.
  • Content management and data analysis, audience reached analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of gender and child protection policies and ethics including experience with working directly with children and youth.
  • Excellent public relation and extensive network of contacts of various stakeholders working in the field of Human Rights, in the media, CSOs and child and youth led organization.

Result of Service An interactive digital tool with the focus on social media mobilization to increase mobilization and raising awareness to eliminate all form of violence against children.

Duties and Responsibilities Guided by General Assembly resolution 62/141, in which the Assembly established the mandate, the Special Representative is a global, independent advocate for the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against children. In order to increase mobilization and awareness raising to eliminate all form of violence against children and Gender-Based Violence (GBV at least 20% of consultancy requirement), a consultant is required to develop a digital campaign strategy in order to enhance advocacy, increase mobilization and raise awareness with a wide involvement of all key stakeholders. The consultant will support the Office of the SRSG-VAC to: •expand the implementation of the social media mobilization strategy in closed cooperation with all the team and in line with the OSRSG VAC Strategy and the OSRSG VAC Child Protection Policy.. •enhance the design of communication content following the child friendly branding guidelines as established in the communication strategy, targeting relevant stakeholders including children (IEC, reports, videos, newsletters, social media content). •implement social media strategy and disseminate strategic content related to VAC and GBV: key messages, data analysis, digital design, photo, video, infographic with clear and identified indicators and outputs. •maintain relationship with key and relevant stakeholders through social media interaction. •support in engaging with digital public and private digital media key actors for strategic social campaign. •monitor and evaluate the progress of social media and communications activities, identify indicators and outputs in order to analyze the audience reached and measure the impact on achieving the overall objectives. Additionally to digital communication and social media mobilization, the consultant will support the team through: •drafting the child participation digital map case studies based on the forms received •supporting the team for the creation of the child friendly content, reports and documents.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, human rights, international relations, social sciences communication or other related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience at national, regional and international level in communication and advocacy, human rights, civil society mobilization, political affairs, international relations, law reform, or related area is required. Extensive professional experience related to Human Rights and Child Rights at international and regional level. Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder’s advocacy projects. Good understanding of International Law and International and Regional Human Rights mechanisms. Excellent knowledge of the UN system, working experience with intergovernmental organization at the regional level.

Skills: Specific experience and skills required: -Proven ability to elaborate and implement communication and digital media strategy plan.
