This is a G-4 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 4 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-4 contracts.

This opportunity is open to WHO staff members who hold continuing and fixed-term appointments in all staff categories, and who have served at least two years in their current position, as specified in the Policy on STDAs.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The main responsibilities related to the development assignment are as follows:

  1. Receive, screen and process correspondence and requests, and follow up on implementation of all administrative actions, ensuring adherence to deadlines and timely response to correspondence and queries.
  2. Type, ensuring correctness of language as well as format, and in accordance with WHO Style Guide, correspondence, reports, documents and presentations upon written/verbal instructions, and independently compose correspondence of purely routine administrative nature.
  3. Make necessary arrangements regarding duty travel of staff in the unit, submit travel requests (TRs) in the Global Management System (GSM), arrange for flight and hotel reservations and deal with other related matters.
  4. In line with WHO procedures and rules, provide secretarial support during intercountry meetings, including issuance of letters and TRs for temporary advisers and participants.
  5. Submit different administrative transactions in GSM, including procurement of goods and services, and follow up with concerned parties for the receipt of deliverables and finalization of payments.
  6. File documents in accordance with the filing system in use and obtain relevant information/background as required.

REMUNERATION

Your current contractual arrangements and benefits will not be affected. If your developmental assignment involves a short-term move to another duty station, you will receive the hotel component of the first 60 days DSA rate of the duty station where you will be temporarily based throughout the entire assignment. Travel costs in economy class will be covered.

This Short -term staff development assignment is designed to provide a mentorship opportunity for SCH/CRP Admin and Communication Associate to coach the interested staff who would like to develop admin and programme assistance hands on skills through on job trainings. The STDA will foster knowledge transfer and create a learning opportunity for both mentor and mentee staff members. Furthermore, the STDA will provide extended support to the unit to handle the increased admin workload due to the Regional Committee and other concurrent events.
