You have:

- Experience with Public Finance for Children is considered an asset.

UNICEF is looking for one volunteer to support the development and finalization of three public transparency briefs to be co-published with the Egyptian Ministry of Finance. The task is going to be conducted under the guidance of the Social policy Specialist and the Social Policy officer and subject to the approval of the Head of Fiscal Transparency and Citizen Engagement.

Macroeconomics and public finance
As part of UNICEF’s work on social inclusion, we work with key government agencies, including the Ministry of Finance (MoF) as well as with other partners, in order to increase allocations that benefit children and youth, carry out value for money analysis and to include children and youth in the budget formulation process. UNICEF social inclusion component prioritizes work around evidence-based advocacy, strengthening institutional capacities of national stakeholders, and supporting the government, academia, and civil society organizations to (1) monitor the situation of children and better identify poor and vulnerable children, (2) strengthen and support the expansion of the social protection system and enhance its integration with social services with a focus on children, and (3) achieve child responsive budgeting and strengthen policy engagement to reduce the transmission of poverty and inequity that is faced by poor and vulnerable children. In order to advance the work on achieving child responsive budgeting UNICEF is collaborating with MoF Citizen Engagement and Fiscal Transparency Unit in analyzing the Egyptian public budget in co-published Transparency Briefs.

11-20 hours per week / 14 weeks
Experience with collecting and working with public budgets and good analytical and writing skills, and the ability to present the results in a simple language, making use of visual aids (maps, graphs and other visuals). Familiarity and expertise with Public Finance for Children is considered an asset. Master’s Degree in areas of Statistics, Economics, Data Science, International Relations, and similar is desirable. The volunteer needs to be fluent in both Arabic and English languages.
