Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

The Economic and Social Policy (ESP) Global Practice is one of UNICEF’s global technical teams, working across five thematic areas — Child Poverty, Social Protection, Public Finance for Children, Cash-Based Assistance, and Youth Livelihoods — to advance evidence-based policy and programmatic action for the most vulnerable children and families. The ESP team produces a wide range of technical knowledge products, capacity-building materials, and public-facing communications for government counterparts, development partners, civil society, and practitioner audiences worldwide.

A key and growing area of the ESP Global Practice’s work is care and support systems. Care and support — encompassing unpaid care, social care services, and support for caregivers and care recipients — is central to children’s wellbeing, gender equality, and inclusive development. UNICEF’s work on care and support seeks to strengthen the systems, policies, and financing that enable families and communities to provide quality care for children, persons with disabilities, and older persons, while addressing the disproportionate burden of unpaid care that falls on women and girls. This work is closely linked to gender-responsive social protection, early childhood development, disability inclusion, and the broader care economy agenda. As the international community looks ahead to the 2028 International Year of Care and Support, UNICEF is positioning itself as a leading voice on care reform, generating evidence, shaping global norms, and supporting governments to develop inclusive care and support systems.

To support the dissemination and visibility of its care and support work, the ESP Global Practice is seeking an online volunteer with professional graphic design and visual communication skills to contribute to the development of public-facing materials on care and support for UNICEF.

We are looking for one online volunteer with strong graphic design and visual storytelling skills to develop public-facing materials that communicate UNICEF’s work on care and support to a wide range of audiences. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit samples of relevant work.

The Online Volunteer will be asked to: • Develop two visual graphic documents illustrating UNICEF’s ongoing and planned efforts on care and support in the lead-up to the 2028 International Year of Care and Support, outlining key global moments, upcoming products, and key processes — to present a comprehensive picture for advocacy purposes.

• Candidates should have professional experience in graphic design, including document layout and visual communication, and must be proficient in relevant graphic design applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required. • A degree in graphic design or related field is considered an asset.
