→ Development of an action plan based on design thinking to allow trainees of the toolkit on institutional arrangements for policy coherence to take action in light of their day-to-day professional activities upon completion of the 5 day training/ capacity development toolkit. → This also comprises the development of meaningful activities in each module of the toolkit. These activities should contribute in an incremental manner to the development of the action plan in the last module of the toolkit. → Co-facilitate the delivery of the modules that deals with the development of an action plan by providing some guidance and introduction to design thinking. → Develop a short manual to instruct first time users what design thinking consists of and how to go about it. The manual should be simple and aimed at public servants working at national or local government level and how to go about involving other stakeholders if needed.

    → UN DESA-DPIDG has developed a Curriculum on Governance for the implementation of the SDGs. This comprises 7 toolkits on the what, why and how of specific topics that are all related to the implementation of the 11 Principles of effective government for sustainable Development. Each toolkit ends with the task to develop an action plan that the participant who takes the capacity building training toolkit would need to prepare to bring about changes either at individual, organizational or societal level. → UN DESA wants to introduce design thinking to enhance co-creation and a human-centered, iterative, creative, collaborative and prototype-driven approach for the purpose of action planning.

  • 1-5 hours per week / 26 weeks

- Background in design thinking and public policy design - Understanding of public sector - Understanding of the skills required for design thinking so that these skills can be strengthened in the application of the approach - Presentation skills - Pedagogical skills - Creativity - Experience with working in different geographical and institutional backgrounds - Previous experience with the development, application and teaching of design thinking
