- A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
- Experience with an International organization is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The Regional Offices represent UNEP in the regions and are the principal interlocutor with regional platforms, national governments, regional ministerial forums and the Resident Coordinator (RC) System at the country and regional levels. The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Cameroon, under the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), is supporting the Government of Cameroon to transform food systems in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Strengthening the environmental sustainability of food systems is a key priority, cutting across climate action, biodiversity conservation, sustainable land and water management, and pollution reduction. This position is domiciled in the Regional Development Coordination Unit of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Regional Office for Africa at the Nairobi duty station. The incumbent will report to the Regional Development Coordination team and will be under the direct supervision of the Regional Development Coordination Officer for Africa, and the overall guidance of the Regional Development Coordinator (who focuses on Anglophone Africa) as well as the Deputy Regional Director. The incumbent will be responsible for: a) Providing technical support in the development of CCAs and the elaboration of UN-CF framework including mainstreaming the 6 transition pathways for UN-CFs developed in 2026-2027 to accelerate SDG implementation in Africa in collaboration sub-programmes heads and divisions. b) Coordinate and support the implementation of the outcomes of the 2nd UNRC dialogue to ensure UNEP’s enhanced support to UNCTs and UNRC systems. c) Technical and advisory support between RDC Unit and the Results Groups on the ground, UN Resident Coordinators and National Institutions. d) Providing technical backstopping to the UNCT FP system in Africa in alignment with the agency’s delivery model to strengthen country engagements and UNEP’s visibility. e) Technical capacity building on UNCT FP mechanism in response to calls from UN RCOs and sub-regional heads based on requests received from UNCTs and member states within their jurisdiction. f) Provide technical support for CCA and UN-CF end cycle quality assessments (Peer Support Group-PSG) to authorize the finalization of the UN-CF development process at country level. g) Support the Regional Director (RD) and Deputy Regional Director (DRD) in their roles of high-level political representation across the region (elaboration of briefing notes, country briefs, strategic readouts). h) Provide technical guidance to UNCT reporting including UN INFO reporting of UNEP’s initiatives in Africa. i) Technical support in the implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the Africa Office Management Project. j) Support resource mobilization and environmental financing to support the UN-RC system to integrate innovative financing for SDG implementation while simultaneously developing bankable pipelines of national projects. k) Support projects in the Regional Development Coordination team related to food systems
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in environment science, conservation, natural resource management, engineering, project management, economics or related fields is required. Experience with an International organization is desirable.
Languages
