Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is looking for three online volunteers who have previous work experience and/or expertise in generating publishable quality graphical illustrations and/or 3D models. A background in environmental science, forestry, wildlife management, GIS, remote sensing, conservation, robotics, mechanical/civil engineering, English literature or any similar field would be an added advantage. The successful candidates will be employing his/her creativity for contributing 2D figures/3D models to an ongoing grant proposal/application to UNDP – focused on conserving leatherback turtles near Kamalia Wildlife Management area – and related journal publications that explore applications of remote sensing techniques (such as drone and satellite imagery) for forest monitoring, biodiversity conservation, and land assessment activities. Volunteers offering significant and timely contributions would be acknowledged in both publications and grant proposals accordingly.

    Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Papua New Guinea and was established to promote sustainable community development initiatives and thereby address several exigent issues – ranging from environmental conservation to women's rights – that are hindering the progress of the country. Few of our ongoing projects focus on applications of various remote sensing technologies – such as drones and satellite imagery – for monitoring forest growth, tracking land use land change patterns, evaluating land feasibility for building educational resource centers and conserving sea turtle habitats and we are currently looking for three online volunteers who can help us with the following tasks: 1) Develop publishable quality graphical illustrations and/or 3D models/diagrams of trees, drones, wooden structures/buildings, turtles, coastal areas/ocean tides, etc. 2) Create publishable quality flowcharts and PowerPoint presentations on ad hoc basis

  • 1-5 hours per week / 8 weeks

    The ideal candidate should be very attentive, responsive, and proactive, as our current work is a time-sensitive one. A minimum of Masters degree or equivalent work experience (3+ years) is preferred; exceptions will be made if the candidate is able to provide a well-organized portfolio or publication demonstrating his previous works. Must have good communication and presentation skills and necessary licenses for 3D modeling or graphical design software such as Adobe Illustrator.
