When my son Nathan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, he was only nine months old. The news was devastating to my family and I felt like my life was over. Feeling lost, out of my depth and alone, I struggled for years seeking answers. This search has led me to become one of the leading voices of advocacy for children with disabilities and their families in my country. Today, what began as a 'tragedy' has become a movement that is transforming my nation of Jamaica. Over this time, I have become present to the knowledge that there are millions of children with disabilities all over the world whose parents are in need of the information and support that we provide. This volunteer opportunity will support us in promoting and marketing my latest book, How to Cope: Parenting a Child with Special Needs, which was launched this past May. Our goal is to put this book in the hand of every parent and professional caring for a child with disability or special needs. Your contribution will help us to generate much needed revenues, grow our audience, increase disability sensitization, and strengthen our voice of advocacy.
