You have:
- Minimum 5 examples of a mastery of basic design principles.
- Experience in creative data visualization capacity.
- Ability to design for multiple languages and audiences.
- Submission of a design portfolio with a brief description of suitability for the assignment.
- Relevant experience in graphic and layout design.
Contract

The volunteer will be required to: • Submit the preliminary designs/layouts for creative and substantive inputs; • Revise the layouts to incorporate changes; • Submit the designs/layouts for proofreading; • Ensure all corrections have been inserts; • Create PDF from final electronic files; • Share all project files The outputs for each specific assignment will depend on scope of work. List of deliverables may include, but not limited to, the followings: • Graphic design for all types of communication materials e.g. infographics, banners, fliers, logos • Layout design and typesetting for printed and electronic publications • Interactive graphics, animation design and animated PowerPoint presentations and videos • Art-work editing of photos and other graphic elements

UN-Habitat works in over 90 countries supporting people in cities and human settlements for a better urban future. Working with governments and local partners, our high impact projects combine global expertise and local knowledge to deliver timely and targeted solutions. The volunteer will work in the Communications and Media Section, External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division of UN-Habitat. The section provides communications, branding and events management services to the organization. It is responsible for positioning UN-Habitat with a positive corporate image in the public, in media and the urban development arena as a value-adding and lead partner in this area. You will be expected to provide design and layout support for publications and other communications materials including printed, digital and online products, as well as animated graphics. Under the guidance of the Head of Production, you will be expected through each assignment to effectively convey content to target audiences within UN-Habitat brand guidelines and templates.

20+ hours per week / 14 weeks
Interested candidates must submit the following in one PDF document. • Design portfolio: a) brief description of why the individual considers themselves most suitable for assignment; and b) minimum 5 examples of a mastery of basic design principles; creative data visualization capacity and multiple language, multiple audience and/ or advocacy/campaign designs.
