Background

The UNDP Strategic Plan 2018-2021 embraces the complexity of development and commits the organization to helping countries find faster, more durable solutions to achieve Agenda 2030. With these strategy UNDP pretends to be responsive to three broad development settings: (1) Eradicate poverty in all its forms and dimensions; (2) Accelerate structural transformations; and (3) Build resilience to shocks and crises.

UNDP set out to build the world’s largest and fastest learning network on sustainable development challenges. The UNDP Accelerator Lab Network is made up of 92 teams serving 116 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Eastern Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.

The new offering is premised on leveraging the latest thinking from the fields of complexity science, lead user innovation and collective intelligence toward new development approaches and accelerated learning on most effective and locally appropriate ways of achieving SDGs.

The network will surface and reinforce locally sourced solutions at scale while mobilizing a wide and dynamic partnership of actors contributing knowledge, resources, and experience. The initiative is meant to transform our collective approach by introducing new protocols, backed by evidence and practice, which accelerate the testing and dissemination of solutions within and across countries.

The UNDP Mozambique’ Accelerator lab is looking for a local company or individual consultant to design and develop an online platform of local solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meetings with stakeholders and report of all the stakeholder needs;
  • Develop and deliver final graphic concept for the platform, plan the overall layout and organization of the website;
  • Develop the draft of the UI;
  • Develop the rest of the platform (front and backends) and deliver a fully functional online platform that is open to the public and allows for registration of innovations;
  • Train stakeholders on the use of the platform and its maintenance.

Competencies

  • Familiarity and relevant experience in using different Content Management Systems (CMS), particularly WordPress;
  • Have a broad knowledge of current web development technologies and design tools in the field, and new software and other web programming languages and programs including use of HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, Macromedia Flash, Java;
  • Have excellent knowledge of recent trends in graphic design, web sites, including online video publishing, and social media networking;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with government, especially at Central level. Prior experience of implementing consultancy for UNDP or its projects is a plus.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science is required.
  • Masters’ degree in Computer Science preferred.

Experience:

Be a reputable firm or individual with at least 5 years of prior experience designing visually appealing and navigation friendly webpages;

Language:

  • Fluency in Portuguese.
