You have:

  • Proven experience in leadership and management roles within an international organization.
  • Strong understanding of reproductive health, gender-based violence, and family planning issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively represent UNFPA.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required, knowledge of other languages is an asset.

Contract

This is a D-1 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 15 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 168,735 USD and 212,926 USD.

Salary for a D-1 contract in Panama City

The international rate of 128,707 USD, with an additional 31.1% (post adjustment) at this the location, applies. Please note that depending on the location, a higher post adjustment might still result in a lower purchasing power.

The Position:

The Deputy Regional Director post is located in the UNFPA Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office and reports directly to the Regional Director. The post supports the Director in terms of the day-to-day leadership, programming and representation of the Office. The Region includes Regional, Sub-Regional Support, Area and Country Office structures. The Deputy provides leadership and guidance to the regional team of technical and programme staff and provides leadership to the RO in the absence of the Regional Director.

Job Purpose:

The Deputy Regional Director has primary responsibility for the following key objectives, which impact on all technical and programme operations across the Region of assignment:

  • Advisory and strategic support to the Regional Director and Regional office
  • Leadership of and guidance to the technical and programme team
  • Oversight of the management of the regional programme
  • Representation and Liaison

The Deputy Regional Director is a member of the Regional Director and Deputy Directors Team as well as of the Regional Management Team. S/He leads the regional office in the absence of the Regional Director.
