The Deputy Director, Origination & Servicing is a new, full-time remote position that provides leadership and strategic management of our loan portfolio and risk mitigation measures. The position reports to the Director of Credit Strategy and oversees a team of loan servicing and customer support staff. The Deputy Director works closely with all core CEO departments to ensure innovation, sustainability, impact, accessibility and best-in-class customer and partner support.

This position is remote and can be located anywhere in the U.S.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

- Work closely with the Director of Credit Strategy to develop and implement strategic initiatives for loan origination and servicing - Provide leadership and guidance to the origination and servicing teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while ensuring best-in-class customer and borrower support

Origination & Servicing Oversight

- Oversee the loan origination process, ensuring compliant and efficient handling of loan applications through to loan closing - Collaborate with the underwriting team to ensure the quality and compliance of loan origination activities - Ensure liens are perfected in accordance with underwriting decisions and properly tracked - Provide strategic direction for loan servicing activities, including payment processing and modifications, account maintenance and customer support - Implement quality assurance and feedback incorporation measures for both origination and servicing functions and realize continuously improving processes

Portfolio Quality & Collections

- Conduct regular monitoring of portfolio quality, including review of modified accounts, accounts in arrears and ensure timely actions are taken in adherence with organizational policies and regulatory requirements - Establish and update policies and procedures based on realized performance and feedback from borrowers, partners and other team members and departments - Work closely with the finance team in establishing loan-loss reserve and other KPI consistently and in adherence with organizational policies

Team Management

- Supervise and mentor a team of loan servicing and support staff, including the customer support supervisor - Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the department

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; experience in lieu of education is ok - Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a CDFI or financial institution - In-depth knowledge of risk management, loan servicing, and collections - 5 years of experience working in diverse, non-profit setting offering economic development services and programs to low-income, credit-thin populations - High degree of professional integrity; ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data - Solid organizational skills: detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines - Ability to work independently, be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment - Excellent communication, analysis and negotiation skill, availability to work with a variety of stakeholders - Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. - Solid Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, other financial-related software required

- This is a remote position that can accommodate candidates in any U.S. State. The majority of the workday is at a computer terminal. While remote, the position may require travel to conferences or in-person team meetings, estimated to be less than 5% time.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
