Under the overall authority of the Director of IIEP and the Head of Office of IIEP Buenos Aires, and under the immediate supervision of the Research and Development Coordinator of IIEP Buenos Aires, and within the framework of IIEP’s mandate and Medium-Term Strategy, the incumbent will act as deputy coordinator of this area. The incumbent will support the R&D Coordinator in the design and follow-up tasks of the different activities that are developed in the area, as well as in the administrative and financial tasks related to its operation. The incumbent’s main tasks will be to participate in the identification, conceptualization, design and supervision of research projects, both regular and extra-budgetary, in accordance with the IIEP's Medium-Term Strategy and the needs of the Member States. Duties and resposibilities of the post are: **1. Strategic planning and Programme implementation** - Support the coordinator in planning research and development projects, in accordance with IIEP’s Medium Term Strategy, Member State needs, and IIEP-UNESCO’s internal procedures. - Collaborate in the development and implementation of the IIEP-UNESCO’s research project agenda. - Participate in the supervision and coordination of on-going projects; provide the necessary support to guarantee quality and effectiveness in each project. - Ensure the permanent updating of educational policies and statistical databases, as well as the educational policy research base. - Provide support in the management, implementation and monitoring of the budget of the Research and Development area. - Prepare reports on research projects in accordance with IIEP's Monitoring and Evaluation Plan; participate in the permanent updating of information related to the area in institutional monitoring systems . **2. Institutional networking and Partnership development** - Support the coordinator in the development of the necessary inputs for the communication area and for IIEP-UNESCO’s virtual platforms. - Participate in tasks of articulation of the research area with the IIEP's training and technical cooperation areas, according to institutional needs. - Participate in the design, implementation and monitoring of networks of researchers, experts and government officials promoted from the area. - Assist in the identification and mobilization of resources for R&D projects through public and private donors, including Member States, United Nations agencies, foundations, and other organizations and development partners. - Represent IIEP at conferences and meetings, giving institutional and thematic presentations. **3.
