You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, STEM, or a related field. MBA strongly preferred.
  • 14+ years as a seasoned business c-level executive with demonstrable financial results, leading large Product/UX, Marketing and Communication teams at a senior level, in an innovative-driven context
  • Proven ability to lead experienced product management, digital marketing, and content teams, working very closely with Tech in an agile environment
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. Around 20,000 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor.

To reach a world with zero hunger, WFP is investing in and growing private sector fundraising and partnerships. ShareTheMeal is WFP’s fundraising and awareness-raising app. Free to download, the award-winning app is a pioneering way for people to join our efforts in creating a world with zero hunger.

ShareTheMeal currently has more than 6 million users worldwide, who have shared more than 125 million meals (US$ 60 million). WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin, is focused on further developing the app to include new and innovative features, and on increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting directly to, and working very closely with, the Head of ShareTheMeal, the CPMO essentially acts as a deputy for her, and is responsible for:

Develop the strategy and the roadmap of ShareTheMeal:

  • Design and drive the marketing (paid and organic, incl. Influencers, CRM and social), communication (internal and external), product / design and branding strategy of ShareTheMeal to help it deliver on its committed aggressive growth targets
  • Define and execute the Product, Marketing, Comm and Branding strategy for ShareTheMeal, in alignment with overall organization strategy
  • Position ShareTheMeal as the best-in-class digital fundraising platform among all other UN donation platforms
  • Articulate the distinctive value proposition for ShareTheMeal vs. other fundraising programs and drive brand positioning accordingly
  • Develop execution roadmaps including dependencies, key milestones and resources/ budgeting requirements
  • Ensure alignment across internal and external stakeholders on the strategy
  • Champion strategic partnerships development to ensure business growth and app scalability across multiple platforms & geographies

Ensure operational excellence in driving the strategy implementation:

  • Ensure success goals, OKRs and metrics are defined, agreed upon, tracked and surfaced in the proper forums
  • Drive implementation of the strategy across internal teams, in conjunction with team leads, the Chief of Staff and Head, striking a balance between longer-term strategic building activities, meeting mid-term goals, as well as realizing quick wins
  • Support the transformation geared towards growing sustainable revenue sources beyond Marketing, to include Product and Partner-led growth
  • Leverage partnerships and nurture win-win relationships with new and existing partners to further boost this revenue stream and execute on partnership-led growth (eg. with gaming or food delivery platforms)

Manage team performance and development:

  • Lead high-performing teams to create and implement strategic initiatives in support of the goals and priorities, across the board incl. Product, Communications and Customer Success, Branding and Marketing
  • Mentor and coach direct reports and their reports as needed, to ensure performance in the team is sustained and continuously improved
  • Ensure ways of working and team processes optimize for high impact output, all the while striking a balance between agility and the need to navigate established external structures
  • Instill a culture of customer centricity and experimentation, based on data and insights

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • Demonstrable business results in accordance with sustainability and growth objectives, using data and insights as drivers for decision making
  • Scaled and stable web and app operations across multiple platforms & geographies
  • Strategic priorities, incl. budget and financial activities are planned, tracked and reported in line with WFP standards
  • Efficient and effective implementation and reporting for operational priorities, incl. business performance analysis and change management
  • Engaged, high performing teams who are driven by our mission and excited to continue working at ShareTheMeal

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, STEM, or a related field. MBA strongly preferred.

    Work history

  • 14+ years as a seasoned business c-level executive with demonstrable financial results, leading large Product/UX, Marketing and Communication teams at a senior level, in an innovative-driven context

    • Experience working within large global organizations with a legacy is a major plus

    Technical expertise

  • Proven ability to lead experienced product management, digital marketing, and content teams, working very closely with Tech in an agile environment

    • Proven ability to manage budgets and craft data driven business cases
    • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan, manage, develop and deliver on customer-centric innovation roadmaps
    • Proficient in the use of work productivity tools, as well as innovation-enabling tool (eg. Miro or Figma, JIRA, etc)

    Soft skills

  • Resilient and results driven. Proven ability in developing strong relationships with reports and relevant stakeholders

    • Ability to think strategically and creatively with an innovative mindset that is constantly looking for ways to improve things based on data and customer insights
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and flexible work style
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams
    • A very good communicator. Strong presentation, listening, written and verbal skills.

    Language(s)

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
