Competencies

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, international development, economics, or a related field is required.
- A university degree in law and certification in local development would be an added advantage.
Experience
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in a deadline driven development-programme implementation, reporting and donor relations environment;
- A combination of professional training, certification and international experience in local governance and decentralisation;
- Experience in strategic planning;
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders including government officials, NGOs, academia, media, national and international experts and consultants;
- Experience in building capacities of local government and local civil society organisations;
- Strong reporting skills and proven ability to produce quality analytical work;
- Sound knowledge of local development and peacebuilding principles;
- Previous experience in external communication;
- Demonstrated experience in managing external stakeholder relationships (e.g. donor and implementing partner relationships);
- Experience in peace, human security and gender mainstreaming;EU programme implementation experience is a strong asset;
- Ability to establish effective working relations in a multicultural team environment;
- Demonstrated familiarity with UNDP rules and procedures is highly desirable;
- Previous working experience in Jordan is highly desirable;
- Openness to change and ability to receive and integrate feedback;
- Experience in the use of computers applications and software packages (MS Power Business Intelligence, Word, Excel, etc.) as well as web-based management systems.
Language requirements:
- Fluent in English;
- Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
