Result of Service Specific tasks and responsibilities 1) Design, test and develop a GIS, considering the relational Data Base of the project, with the emissions, activity levels and geographical information from the oil companies. 2) Implement the adequate Data Elevation Model (DEM), required country borders shapes, county district and municipal border shapes, principal highways, etc. 3) Develop the DB queries, analysis results storage and user interfaces. 4) Work with the OGMP and IMEO data architects to develop data exploration and data analytics tools that can support data aggregation and comparison with other data streams. 5) Implement user interfaces to visualize spatial results over maps 6) Help to process the report information on the DB

Duties and Responsibilities UNEP's Energy and Climate Branch implements the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) and Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP), an ambitious reporting initiative to facilitate methane emissions reductions from the oil and gas sector. A consultant is needed to provide technical advice and support to the Programme Managers in charge of the OGMP and of the IMEO.

The OGMP is a multi-stakeholder partnership working to improve methane emissions reporting. The updated reporting framework (OGMP 2.0) launched in November 2020, is the most ambitious and comprehensive reporting framework for methane emissions from the oil and gas sector. Member companies will report on methane emissions levels from all material sources across the entire oil and gas value chain, including both operated and non-operated assets. OGMP 2.0 is a comprehensive measurement-based methane reporting framework that standardizes rigorous and transparent emissions accounting practices.

OGMP reported data will be integrated by the International Methane Emissions Observatory with other data streams (remote sensing data, scientific measurements data, national inventories)

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: - Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in an informatic engineering relevant science field. - A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with 4 years of work experience in data analysis. Experience: knowledge and experience of:

- environmental monitoring technologies (e.g. remote sensing and atmospheric measurements). - Data Elevation Model (DEM) - development of database queries

Ability to: - summarize and translate technical data appropriately for a variety of audiences - develop database and integrate GIS software. Language: English is the working language of UNEP - knowledge of another language is an advantage
