Duties and Responsibilities

UNEP’s International Methane Observatory (IMEO), within the Industry & Economy Division, exists to deliver improvement across research, reporting and regulation and connecting this information to the individuals who have agency to reduce methane emissions.

Launched at COP28, the IMEO Methane Data Platform focuses initially on emissions from the fossil industry. It reconciles methane data from scientific measurement studies, satellites through the Methane Alert and Response System (MARS), rigorous industry reporting through the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), and national inventories.

The IMEO digital ecosystem comprises of the below digital platforms, all of which work in harmony to inform the front end experience of the IMEO Methane Data Platform: OGMP Reporting Plume Viewer MARS notifications system IMEO Methane Data (public facing platform)

Phase I: Discovery • Briefing at project kick off. • Reading and analysing all available, relevant data (web analytics, satisfaction surveys, existing • interviews) target groups • Read and analyse key documents/business goals. • Stakeholder mapping and strategy • Prepare, plan interviews with 3 stakeholders. • Conduct and analyse interviews with 3 stakeholders. • Reporting analysis interviews, data, desk research company and market • Developing quick profiles and key user scenarios • UX / usability evaluation of current website: expert review/ cognitive walkthrough based on key user scenarios and key profiles.

Phase II: Strategy • Determining key corporate values and user needs and themes. • Defining digital design / UX Principles • Determining KPI • Determining the strategy for the homepage • Reporting with key findings and "Strategy on a page" (light version) • Presentation strategy

Phase III: Design • Ideation + priorities • Analyse and rank ideas • Elaboration / sketching (high level) of 2 concepts • Present and select concept. • Visual Design and UX writing. • Prototype for testing functional design choices with end user. • Prepare, test, analyse concept with end users* • Prototype 2nd iteration • Presentation and handover UX Design Document including prototype.

Phase IV: Deliver • Specifications in Design System and support development and testing process • Dev support and design insight in production phase

Qualifications/special skills

Masters degree or higher degree in digital product design or HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) studies. At least 10 years of working experience, past experience working on UN related products or platforms is a plus
