Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly transforming healthcare systems by enhancing data analysis, prediction, decision-making, surveillance, and service delivery. In the area of communicable diseases, AI presents significant opportunities to strengthen disease surveillance and early warning systems, improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment pathways, optimize public health workforce capacity, and support more targeted interventions for populations at greatest risk.

The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO EMRO) is launching a regional initiative to explore and harness the potential of AI and digital platforms to strengthen communicable disease surveillance and response capacities. The initiative aims to identify relevant AI solutions, document emerging practices and lessons learned, and support Member States in understanding how AI and digital technologies can be responsibly, effectively, and ethically leveraged to prevent and control communicable diseases.

As part of this initiative, WHO EMRO seeks an online volunteer with strong information management, research, data analysis, and information visualization skills to support the development of a regional landscape review of AI solutions relevant to communicable diseases and facilitate knowledge and information sharing.

• Conduct a structured landscape review of existing and emerging AI solutions applicable to communicable disease prevention, surveillance, preparedness, and response. • Develop and maintain a structured database/catalogue of AI solutions, including key information on their applications, functionality, evidence base, geographic use, data requirements, and relevance to communicable disease surveillance and response.

Candidates should have previous experience in data mapping and be skilled in the use of standard methodologies for data analysis. A degree related data analysis or other related fields is considered an asset.
