The Country Focus and Coordination unit (CFC), under the WHO Regional Director’s Office for Africa, coordinates political and strategic support to improve the performance of WHO country offices (WCOs). To this end, CFC collects strategic information from countries, specifically for monitoring and evaluating interventions carried out by WCOs for feedback to WHO country and AFRO leadership. As such, the incumbent will support the unit with data management needs in order to conduct periodic monitoring/reporting to the Regional Director on the performance of WCOs and their progress towards achieving the objectives of WHO's General Programme of Work.

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Officer for Country Monitoring, the UN Volunteer will perform the following tasks:

• Develop tools for the collection and communication of strategic information from country offices to improve the quality of decision-making by the senior management of the WHO Regional Office for Africa (AFRO); • Provide routine and timely cleaning / preparation of data from tools and platforms for the Technical Officer of Country Monitoring to review/analyze; • Manage digital platforms that facilitate performance monitoring of WHO country offices in the African region; • Support CFC and IT team to operationalize the WCO Priority Setting Tool; • Contribute to the capacity building of select WCO staff in the use of digital platforms to contribute, access and review strategic information; and • Communicate with AFRO and WCO staff in a timely manner to meet data support and contribute to knowledge management requests (e.g., quarterly updates, best practices, challenges, etc.)

Data management with at least one year strongly in data processing and analysis, and/or dashboard development. • Experience in reporting and communication in an international NGO, inter-governmental organization or UN system agency is an asset • Excellent data management skills to support monitoring and reporting needs of the unit

Other preferred skills include: • Working knowledge of English and/or French is required; • Solid oral and written skills; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including at the regional and country levels; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (MS Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Word, Teams, etc.) (required), SharePoint (required), Tableau (desirable), Power Bi (desirable) and email/internet (required); • Flexibility to learn new tools and applications to deliver required tasks of the position; and • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
