The UNDSS/ISW in Afghanistan provides professional safety and security services to enable the United Nations to deliver its programmes globally, even in the most challenging environments. UNDSS Afghanistan is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of UN personnel, assets, and operations throughout the country, supporting the UN's critical work in fostering peace, development, and humanitarian assistance.

The SIOC within UNDSS/ISW Afghanistan is tasked with collecting, analysing, and disseminating security information critical to the safety and security of UN personnel, assets, activities, and operations. SIOC is divided into two functional cells: SIOC Information and SIOC Operations. This assignment is aligned with SIOC Information's requirement to enhance the design and delivery of visual materials for security presentations, briefings, and reports.

To that end, UNDSS Afghanistan is seeking the support of a qualified Online Volunteer that will engage with the Security Information and Operations Centre (SIOC) of UNDSS/Integrated Security Workforce (ISW) in Afghanistan. The Online Volunteer will support the production of high-quality visual outputs and enhance SIOC's capacity to deliver clear, professional, and impactful presentations for the Country Security Management Team (SMT), the Country Security Cell, and other key platforms requiring security briefings and presentations. These platforms include security briefings for newly arrived personnel, visiting Senior UN Officials (SUNOs), and other officials requiring operational or security updates.

For the collection of data on Safety and Security, we seek support from one (1) Online Volunteer, who under the guidance of Chief SIOC will: - Discuss and define objectives and data collection methodology. - Develop or identify suitable data collection tools. - Identify, screen, and validate data sources related to security incidents, regional threats, and contextual developments. - Conduct data collection from selected sources. - Compile and prepare a comprehensive report summarizing findings. - Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and proper documentation.

Results/Expected Outputs: - Comprehensive analysis of security data leading to improved situational awareness. - Clear and accurate analytical reports and visual outputs (charts, dashboards). - Enhanced security information products to support the Security Management Team. - Strengthened data-driven decision-making capacity for UNDSS/ISW Afghanistan. - The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring, and guidance during the assignment. - Final statement of achievements reflecting the volunteer's contributions to security data analysis and information management.

The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the SIOC at UNDSS and learn about the ways in which data can support determination of security risk management measures.
