Support UNICEF Oman in coordinating project activities remotely.

You have:

Founded on a solid collaboration with the Government, UNICEF has contributed towards numerous achievements for children in Oman since 1971. Given the high-income status of Oman, the operational modality of UNICEF is a unique experience. The programme is of an upstream nature focused on providing support to the government in the areas of strategic policy development, institutional capacity building as well as development of state of the art models aimed at children’s development.

The Government of Oman – UNICEF Country Programme is centered around two priority outcome areas:

1) Strengthened evidence-based policies for children, with focus on the generation of data and documentation of programs with the aim to inform their scale-up.

And

2) Enhanced systems and services for children, adolescents and young people with focus on Integrated Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, strengthening child protection system, and supporting the strengthening of social protection system among others.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Programme Support Online Volunteer will support the implementation of programme activities in the priority outcome areas, working closely with partners from the Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Social Development (MOSD), Ministry of Health (MOH), Social Protection Fund (SPF), and the Environmental Authority (EA).

UNICEF Oman is currently implementing various activities in collaboration with the government to enhance children's rights in the country.

These activities include:

(1) Conducting a Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC) to assess the impact of climate change on children and adolescents and provide actionable recommendations for mitigation and adaptation.

(2) Developing an evaluation of the Child Friendly Education programme to assess its implementation, success, areas for improvement, and future expansion as a model for other countries in the region.

(3) supporting the scale up of Early Childhood Development services, and

(4) expanding UNICEF’s support and collaboration on future skills.

By supporting these activities, the UNV Online Volunteer will play a crucial role in advancing UNICEF's mission in Oman. The assignment will help ensure that UNICEF's initiatives are data-driven, well-coordinated, and aligned with the needs of children, thereby maximizing their impact and sustainability.

To support UNICEF Oman’s key activities by helping coordinate with partners, track progress, and assist with data and reporting. You’ll work remotely to support projects on climate and children, child-friendly education, early childhood development, and future skills with the Ministry of Education.

Tasks • Conduct a review to identify national requirements and gaps for scaling up the Future Skills Framework. • Facilitate email communication with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to explore collaboration opportunities and gather inputs. • Organize and document at least 2 online meetings with key stakeholders to discuss priorities for future skills development. • Coordinate with stakeholders to implement the data collection plan for both the Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC) and the Child Friendly Education (CFE) project. • Participate in remote data collection sessions and summarize key findings. • Track implementation progress and report regularly to the UNICEF Oman programme team. • Identify challenges, delays, or risks and propose possible solutions. • Maintain updated trackers for stakeholder engagement and project activities.

Final Deliverables • A 2-page summary of national needs and opportunities under the Future Skills Framework • 2 sets of meeting minutes from stakeholder discussions with the Ministry of Education • A summary document outlining 3–5 priority intervention areas for future skills • Finalized data collection tracker for CLAC and CFE • 3 short summaries from data collection sessions • 4 biweekly written progress updates • A final consolidated report (4–5 pages) highlighting achievements, progress, and recommendations
