Job Description

IRC Background:

Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. In the U.S., the IRC resettles approximately 11,000 refugees per year and provides numerous program services to assist the refugee from their arrival through citizenship. The IRC in Salt Lake City opened it office in 1994, and provides resettlement services through extended case management to newly arrived refugees for up to 24-months as well as over twenty different programs to educate and empower refugees.

Job Overview:

The Data & Evaluation team in Salt Lake City increases impact for refugees and new Americans in Utah by designing outcome-driven projects and programs, monitoring and evaluating those programs against intended and unintended outcomes, and using what we learn to improve interventions and to advocate for program funding and clients’ interests.

The Data & Evaluation Assistant will help IRC SLC programs record, organize, and understand meaningful data. They will play a key role in keeping essential dashboards up to date for program staff to use in program management, as well as preparing reports of recent data for review at regular meetings with program teams. Additionally, they will be responsible for helping program teams maintain a high level of data quality by updating data entry guides and taking on data entry projects when necessary. This position will report to the Community & Integration Program Manager until July 2022 and the Data & Evaluation Senior Coordinator after July 2022.

Major Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update data dashboards for each program area, which present real-time program data on progress toward output, outcome, and objective targets in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand format.

• Prepare data dashboards and reports for presentation and discussion at regular program Data Review Meetings.

• Complete one-time data entry projects for program teams as needed.

• Collaborate with program teams to keep data entry guides up to date.

• In collaboration with the Data & Evaluation Team, compile data for quarterly and annual impact reporting.

• Assist the Data & Evaluation Team with quantitative reporting, preparing data for grant reporting, and data analysis as needed.

• Participate in regular Data & Evaluation Team meetings and team activities, supporting the overall goals and objectives of the Data & Evaluation Team.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education: University level coursework in Information Systems, Library Science, Data Analysis, or similar topics; Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

Work Experience: At least one semester/4 months relevant internship or work experience

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

• Advanced Excel skills preferred

• Competence in Microsoft Power BI preferred

• Comfortable working and collaborating in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Teams

• Patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor

• Strong communication skills
