The United Nations for the Referendum in Western Sahara has its headquarters in Laayoune, Western Sahara with 9 Team sites in the mission area. The CWU is within the Supply Chain Management Pillar of MINURSO, responsible for inventory receiving, warehouse operations, stock control, customer services/ front desk, outbound deliveries and property disposal functions

Under the overall supervision of the SCM/Chief CWU, and within the delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible to assist in providing the following support:

• Collects and analyzes warehousing data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Support the monitoring of key indicators and provide information and analyze the Supply Chain performance against established benchmarks and performance targets. • Assist in collecting and providing data to prepare performance reports based on the established key performance indicators (KPI), matrixes, corporate targets, and action plans. • Provide support for developing mission specific KPIs and dashboards for Business Intelligence (BI) by analyzing business processes and process improvement opportunities. • Assist with the timely collection of information on supply chain processes, performance and associates root cause analysis for underperformance which help drive business results and enable decision-making. • Assist with validating the data, identifying, and rectifying data issues and inconsistencies, and implementing measures for quality assurance. • Assist in data collection on receiving cargo shipments of equipment, spare parts, and general supplies; and help in setting up inspection reports. • Assist in equipment data-serialization. • Assist in categorizing and preparation of lists related to outgoing transactions to clients and assist in records keeping and data management. • Assist in carrying out periodic counting activities on stock levels in the warehouse.

Furthermore, UNVs are encouraged to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Program for newly arrived UNVs; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

• Professionalism: Practical experience in logistics/warehousing working within supply chain organization, logical and analytical approach to solving problems; ability to analyze and interpret data in support of decision-making, practical knowledge and commitment to implementing the goal of gender equality by ensuring the equal participation and full involvement of women and men in all aspects of peace operations.

• Communication: Good written and oral skills, including ability to prepare and present concise oral and written data and transactional reports, briefings, updates, and other documentation.

• Planning and organizational skills: Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor work plans; Demonstrate skills and ability to coordinate the work of others, work with tight deadlines and handle multiple concurrent supply and material management activities.

• Technological Awareness: Practical and theoretical knowledge of standard supply chain management software. Good computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications; Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) is required. Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn new skills i.e. Business Analytics, Data Visualization

• Teamwork: Good interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with military and civilian counterparts in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

-Progressive responsible experience in data analystics supply chain support is required. -Ability to conduct performance analysis of the supply chain integrated end-to-end business processes and performance reporting utilizing the established performance management framework based on corporate metrics and mission-specific key performance indicators.

Computer skills: -Ability to perform fundamental tasks on a computer and knowledge of MS Applications. Experience in data analytics or related area is required. Understanding and managing large data sets is desired.

Relevant Professional Experience: Relevant professional field experience in international or UN peacekeeping operations is desirable. Experience in supply chain or logistics support.

Using data analytics tools and visualization software, collecting and integrating data from multiple sources, maintain a set of dashboards and reports that provide business insights to Supply Chain Management stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making.

Western Sahara is a territory on the North-West Coast of Africa bordered by Morocco, Mauritania and Algeria. The city of Laayoune has full infrastructure systems such as running water, electricity and sanitation. Sometimes there will be water shortages. Each UN Volunteer live in his/her own private accommodation, preferably in the security cleared and designated areas. Generally, apartments are unfurnished, but the SIG will cover the cost of modest house furniture. Little entertainment is available in the city such as restaurants, cafes, gym, tennis fields and parks. The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham and many banks and exchange bureaus are available. ATM machine are also available to withdraw money in the local currency.

The weather in Western Sahara is mostly hot and windy. Nights are generally colder than days which is typical desert weather. Winters can get colder, up to low of 10 degrees C. Very windy days as well can occur, so it is recommended to have warm protective clothing as well as light smart wear for summer.

Mobile phone service is provided in Western Sahara by few Moroccan phone companies.The most popular is Maroc Telecom and it offers good rates (price of SIM USD15). Wireless internet is available through the service provider and now wifi services with UN compound is available. The UNV Support Officer will provide help with finding accommodation.

Remarks:

Contract is issued for 12 months at a time (renewable depending on mandate, availability of funding, operational necessity and/or satisfactory performance). Settling-In-Grant is provided. Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) — intended to cover housing, utilities, and normal cost-of-living expenses — ranges between US$ and US$ depending on the number of primary dependents. Hazardous duty station supplement (HDSS) amounting to US$ per months may be applicable in certain duty stations. Life, health and permanent disability insurances are included, as well as periodic home leave, final repatriation, and resettlement allowance. UNV will provide a copy of the UNV Conditions of Service to the successful candidate together with the offer of assignment.
