This task contributes to the Central Asian alliance to end gender-based violence broader objective of strengthening gender equality and inclusive development efforts in region.

By updating and improving the database of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and gender experts, the volunteer will help enhance the organization’s ability to identify key stakeholders, build strategic partnerships, and support evidence-based programming across the region.

The database serves as an essential resource for advancing gender equality, supporting women’s empowerment, and fostering collaboration among civil society actors. It is used for stakeholder mapping, outreach, project design, and coordination of activities such as consultations, capacity-building programs, and advocacy campaigns.

Keeping this database accurate and comprehensive ensures that the organization can effectively engage with relevant partners and respond to emerging needs and opportunities in the Central Asia.

The Online Volunteers will support the review, verification, and updating of a database of civil society organizations (CSOs) and gender experts across Central Asia. Specifically, the Online Volunteers will:

  • Conduct online research to identify and collect updated information on CSOs and gender experts using official websites, professional networks, and other publicly available sources.
  • Verify the accuracy and reliability of collected information before updating the database.
  • Review and update existing database entries, including organization names, contact details, areas of expertise, geographic coverage, and key activities.
  • Identify and add relevant new organizations and gender experts to the database.
  • Standardize database entries by ensuring consistency in formatting, terminology, and categorization across all database entries (e.g., sectors, thematic focus, country classification).
  • Review the database for duplicate, outdated, incomplete, or inaccurate information and make necessary corrections.
  • dentify data gaps, including missing information and underrepresented countries or thematic areas, and recommend additional sources or organizations for future inclusion.
  • Document the sources used for data collection and verification, as well as any assumptions made during the review process.
  • Prepare a brief summary (1-2 pages) of key updates, findings, and recommendations upon completion of the assignment.

Expected Deliverables:

  1. An updated and verified database (in Excel or agreed format) of CSOs and gender experts in Central Asia (by countries and general).
  2. A short report (1–2 pages) summarizing updates, key findings, and data gaps.
  3. A list of additional recommended contacts or organizations for future inclusion.

Daily logistics of the task: - check-in (15-30 minutes) on the progress via Microsoft Teams; - status updates via email every 2 days; co-working on shared documents in Google Drive.

Schedule: - Monday-Friday 2 hours/day (morning or afternoon); - deliverable deadline - Friday before 17/00 Almaty time. - check-ins on Wednesday and Friday.
