- Five years of experience in data science, data analytics, applied mathematics, information management, or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 3 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
- Experience in administrative support duties within the context of the UN Secretariat, especially in management of ICT projects is desirable.
- Experience managing public sector data in a cloud environment is desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Contract

Org. Setting and Reporting The position is located in the DPPA-DPO Information Management Unit. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Unit and under the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer/Data Specialist, the Data Analysis Assistant contributes to the work of the Unit, which manages the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA)/Department of Peace Operations (DPO)'s core set of business data, information and historical information assets.
Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Data Analysis Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: - Contribute to the preparation of reports based on organizational needs and requirements for reporting and analysis - Support more senior staff in their work on process improvement mechanisms - Contributes to the preparation of data sets, being responsible for the acquisition and initial cleaning of data from primary and secondary data systems and documents data sets used. - Contribute to the creation and maintenance of databases, contributes to data collection projects, products, tools and processes to extend the capabilities of client offices. - Contributes to the identification and analysis of patterns in data sets using various methods - Prepare data sets upon request; responds to queries/requests and maintains/updates web pages. - Perform other duties as assigned.

Results Expected: Under supervision/guidance of an Information Management Officer/Data Specialist, provides effective data analysis assistance to an essential function of the unit in an efficient and timely manner.
