In December 2020, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched the Data Futures Platform to be a global resource that uses data and insights to empower decision makers tackling socio-economic recovery and beyond. Given the urgency and pre-eminence of COVID-19, the platform features mainly datasets relevant and related to the pandemic in the context of the 5 Pillars of the UN Development System's response. The platform is intended to support UNDP Offices, governments, donors, academia and the general public with analysis and insights on national, regional and global socioeconomic effects of COVID-19. UNDP's COVID-19 response also includes the implementation of national-level Socioeconomic Impact Assessments (SEIA) to provide governments with comprehensive and timely information for evidence-based decision-making in responding to the needs of affected populations and enterprises in the immediate, medium and long-term. These SEIAs utilise an open-source primary data collection software that enables governments to embrace digital transformation. The volunteers will support both of these interconnected areas of work with UNDP's Data Futures team in New York.
